At least we got some good media out of that whole situation
At least we got some good media out of that whole situation
Here's my solution, I just assume both. Just because they're talking into an earpiece does not absolve them.
I don't think they skip it - it's the whole point. THEY won't be there, they'll have been raptured, it's all the rest of us heathens who'll be left to burn in living hell, and that's very appealing to them.
honestly, pxebooting netinstalls should be the norm, it would simplify things so much if the experience was improved a bit
Loved this movie growing up, it was on tv constantly growing up in the LA area. I always wondered if it got as much play outside of that area, most of the time when I ask people about it they aren't familiar
The industry was never comfortable with the idea that software could be "done". But sometimes adding more things just makes it worse.
The infinite growth model we operate under in this industry is weird.
The website claims I failed to verify my ICANN email and that my registrar just needs to resend the email, but my registrar says that the domain has been placed on hold and that only cxDA (Christmas Island Domain Administration) has the ability to fix it, and they're ghosting me
The reason the site checkers disagree about whether it's up is that the domain seizure redirects to a page about ICANN verification failure, but that site is only hosted on http:// and not on https:// - so if you load doomscroll.cx you get content, but not if you load doomscroll.cx
Site's still down, Christmas Island NIC seized the domain and has been incommunicative. I'm working on some improvements to the site to make it clear to casual observers that we aren't violating anyone's copyrights and the site is legit before relaunching with a new domain.
bsky.app/profile/bai....
Bugs the heck outta me too, especially for images. I went looking through the codebase at some point because I thought it would be an easy win, but I'm too stupid at React to make sense of it.
Yes indeed, Christmas Island seized my domain without any warning. Working to get it back now, otherwise I'll put it up on a less shady TLD π
bsky.app/profile/did:...
Hooray, my registrar has informed me that it is not them who seized the domain, Christmas Island did it. On Christmas. So now I have to ask them to fix it.
Guess they don't celebrate Christmas there π€·ββοΈ
Merry Christmas to me. doomscroll.cx domain was suspended due to some failed ICANN verification process. Working on getting it back online.
When we say "no, everything hasn't been digitized," I need you to understand that we really mean is that virtually nothing has been digitized. This is because the realm of primary sources that historians use is incomprehensibly large.
Yeah I'm gonna have to do some sort of last minute bulk export to at least get some representative sample to keep using in JanusXR. Annoying, but it was always the most likely outcome anyway, kinda surprised they lasted as long as they did.
R.I.P. π
Do I have academic research abstract deadlines? Yes. Do I have extra free time? No. Will all my research abstracts now have to be about DoomScroll? Yes and I'm super excited about it.
(yes this practice sucks, but pinning it on "AI" and not on the marketers who decide to make the machine do this stuff to us is weird)
It's not called AI unless it comes from the Fearmonger region of Hypeland, otherwise it's just sparkling ML

Great, you reawakened some long-dormant neurons with this one, thanks www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWRy...
The fun part about having a car with these door handles is, if you forget to lock it (or the sensor fails to auto-lock it), it's like a big sign on your car saying "hey, I'm unlocked, just reach out and grab me and you can have what's inside!"
Yeah, I have some plans to improve mobile support, but making a WebGL-based app that does responsive layout is hard π
I hadn't seen this one before - fun stuff, thanks!
And of course, to make sure private companies are applying these rules fairly in alignment with government decency and morality laws, they'll have to form a new government agency to control and regulate these prefilters, ensuring non-compliant speech stays safely contained.
Quite simple, really!
Ah, see though, this is no longer the case. It's now perfectly feasible to have an AI pre-moderator trained on a set of rules that proofreads every post and ranks it based on its compliance with specific criteria, to decide whether it should be allowed or instantly rejected.
Agreed that the usability on this needs work. It's partly font selection, partly the fact that this is all rendering in GL, and partly the fact that the whole website is made out of doom assets loaded directly from the wad, and those textures aren't exactly optimized for high contrast legibility π
Hah - yeah, that shouldn't happen. I build weird websites though π
If you wouldn't mind answering a few questions maybe we can figure out what's up. What device are you using? Are you using a mouse or touchscreen? Do you have any gamepads/other game controller peripherals attached to your system?
...and hope your neighbor isn't tapping into the lines between your meter and the main panel π
