Very interesting: In Tarrant County, an epicenter of the Texas far right, John Cornyn currently leads with 46% to Paxton's 37%. Meanwhile, in the Texas Comptroller race, far-right candidate Don Huffines is leading Kelly Hancock, a relative moderate who represented the area, by 23 points.

I should mention that Sid Miller is, among many other things, an Islamophobic former champion rodeo cowboy who once was investigated for using taxpayer funds to travel to Oklahoma for a “Jesus Shot” that he believed would cure all pain for life.

We called the State hotline. First thing you hear is an automated message: "Do not rely on the U.S. government for assisted departure or evacuation."
All I can think about is Jeff Bezos saying that he slashed jobs at the Washington Post — including those of foreign correspondents in the Middle East — based on "the data," and a few weeks later a whole war breaks out in the Middle East that these laid off folks would have covered as true experts.
