A graduate of the Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist Program at LA Opera and the Glimmerglass Festival Young Artist Program, Andrews holds a masterโs degree in opera coaching from the University of Texas at Austin and a bachelorโs degree in piano performance from Brigham Young University.

She has also taught Song Literature at the University of WisconsinโMilwaukee. As a collaborative pianist, she has appeared in numerous recitals with leading singers and has served as pianist for the Dallas Opera Competition and the Hart Institute for Women Conductors.

In addition to her work with professional opera companies, Andrews has been a sought-after guest coach and educator, working with institutions such as the University of Texas at Austin, University of North Texas, University of Iowa, Palm Beach Opera, Cedar Rapids Opera, and LA Opera Opera.

In a recent interview with KJZZ Phoenixโs The Show, Arizona Operaโs new President and General Director, Brian DeMaris, shares his inspiring journey from pianist and educator to conductor and now opera leader.
โI also look forward to sharing my passion for teaching with our youth and adult education programs and further expanding the organizationโs reach to new audiences.โ

โI look forward to expanding Arizona Operaโs role in both Phoenix and Tucson through collaborative partnerships and supporting our staff, chorus, orchestra and guest artists in engaging with the community,โ DeMaris said.
His extensive resume includes conducting engagements with the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra, St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra and Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra, and appearances at venues ranging from Lincoln Center to the Aspen Music Festival.
Nationally recognized for his artistic versatility and commitment to education, he has worked with organizations including Anchorage Opera, Charlottesville Opera, Opera Columbus, El Paso Opera, Syracuse Opera, American Lyric Theatre and American Opera Projects, among many others.
DeMaris is no stranger to Arizonaโs arts community, having served as Professor and Artistic Director of Music Theatre and Opera at Arizona State University since 2015. He has also previously collaborated with Arizona Opera, including conducting the recent performance of The Secret Gardener.
An accomplished conductor and passionate educator, DeMaris brings a wealth of experience across opera, musical theatre, symphonic performance, and new work development to his new role.
After an extensive international search, Arizona Opera is proud to announce Brian DeMaris has been named President & General Director!

Join us this fall as we open our 2025/26 Season with the Company Premiere of Hรฉctor Armientaโs ZORRO, followed by the return of Giacomo Pucciniโs timeless masterpiece, MADAMA BUTTERFLY, and finally the semi-staged production of Gioachino Rossiniโs delightful opera, CINDERELLA (LA CENERENTOLA).

Together we explored the depths of Edgar Allan Poeโs gothic tale, witnessed love unfold in Paris with a beloved Puccini classic, rediscovered a Mozart masterwork outdoors, and traversed a first-of-its-kind, one-time experimental production.
As we come to the end of our 2024/25 Season, we wanted to say thank you to everyone who joined us on this incredible operatic journey.
