Late 1980s, after last orders. Gang of us bounced someone's Reliant Robin across a road and into one of the old, open-fronted, pebble-dashed bus shelters. It fit perfectly, lengthwise. Sorry.

American Reacts | UK vs USA Education | The Truth Americans Don’t Want to Admit YouTube video by The Tudor Yank

youtu.be/0bP0-WgwBRE?... This first-hand account of the US education system has shocked me this afternoon. A friend of mine recommended a film called 'Idiocracy', set in America a few centuries hence. I think the director forgot to include the words 'based on true events' in the opening scene.

It’s the weekend. So... who invented the week? Imaginary time.

We imbue the days of the week with personality, so that they serve as cultural reference points. Every day is like Sunday. Garfield hates Mondays. TGIF, amirite?

Which is odd, really, because - unlike day, month or year - the week is entirely made up

Here in South Wales, we're eagerly holding our collective breath and bladder for the 'exciting brand-new' rolling stock on the line from Cardiff. A full hour doing almost miles with no toilets on board. I'd hate to be cleaning crew the morning after an international or a big gig in town.

Unsolicited writing advice, no. 671:
In dialogue, remember that accent is only one way to differentiate between speakers. Real people have all kinds of verbal mannerisms; favourite words, expressions, silences, gestures, sentence length, different vocabularies.

Protecting the right to protest: why we need to act now Grace Da Costa explains the new dangers for the right to protest and invites people to join a mass lobby of MPs to challenge the potential legislation.

The right to protest is under threat and there is legislation going through Parliament that aims to give police even more powers to restrict protest.

Question: someone i know who's already a writer in another area wants to do a crime-writing course. No getting published content, they have that covered, just craft stuff. Preferably online, suitable for a UK timezone. Please do share if you don't know of one! #AuthorSky
