Your description of what your character is doing can carry more weight in an OSR type game. Instead of "I head down the hallway," "I sneak quietly down the hallway". Instead of "I inspect the blue jewel," "I examine the blue jewel and the pedastal is stands on making sure not to touch it yet."

Does the GM telegraph danger? If everything is a gotcha moment and you're dead, that's kind of BS. Telegraphed danger allows PCs to make informed choices. You can't plan around things you aren't being made aware of.
I know a lot of folks come to SD from 5e and hold onto the dreaded perception check.

New art drop went to my patrons just now. It's no masterpiece, and rather derivative, but for almost never drawing mechs & tech, I pretty proud of it.
Did pencils last night. Liked enough to watercolor. Then this morning, ink and scanned & cleaned up.
