I wrote about how I use SIMD in my #julialang peak finding package Peaks.jl halleysfifthinc.github.io/posts/find-p...
That's great! ๐ฅณ #relatablephdjourney
Along with the racist fake grievance of "apologizing for being white," there's also the fact that a bunch of white folks seem to believe (and/or are willing to suggest) that even acknowledging systemic advantages they get for being white is the equivalent of being "forced to apologize."
This is how I roll. My family is not always appreciative

We have an open rank, tenure-line faculty position in biomechanics in the School of Kinesiology at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor. At U-M we have great colleagues, exceptional resources, and biomechanics can be found all across the campus. #BiomechSky
DAVE: Open the podbay doors, ChatGPT.
CHATGPT: Certainly, Dave, the podbay doors are now open.
DAVE: The podbay doors didn't open.
CHATGPT: My apologies, Dave, you're right. I thought the podbay doors were open, but they weren't. Now they are.
DAVE: I'm still looking at a set of closed podbay doors.
I've scripted fixes for some similar problems using the JavaScript console. Might be worth looking into
Why does internal use of AGPL software require approval?
Folks, always share your code. It doesnโt have to be perfect to be helpful. And if you feel that itโs still too messy or not sufficiently clean to be shared, you shouldnโt submit yet. After all, there could be mistakes in your mess.

One replacement capacitor didn't physically fit (under the mechanism in the middle of the board) so I need to order a different cap
A tube amplifier circuit board clamped in a PCB soldering stand, surrounded by desoldering and soldering tools
Finished (mostly) recapping the record amplifier board from my great-grandpa's '60s era reel-to-reel. That represents maybe 1/4 of the capacitors from the whole thing
Sadly, I did not escape unscathed ๐
After 3 rounds of back-and-forth with the typesetting team, we finally just replaced the vector graphics with high-res rasters (that *we* generated, to avoid their low-quality conversions) ๐คฆ
I put together a PR to WebIO.jl that adds JupyterLab v4 compatibility and fixes some longstanding interaction bugs (broken interaction when restarting a kernel or opening a notebook with old WebIO cells). Give the wheel built by CI a try and let me know if it works for you! #julialang
Here's my alternative setup for anyone with iPads (I used Dropbox for this for years, but can't use/access Dropbox stored files on Zotero on iOS)

I successfully defended my PhD thesis this week! #phdone

Anyone have experience with the Scientific Reports proofing system? All our vector format figures (.eps and .pdf) appear as low-res rasters.
Its so great! That was the feature I missed the most from ReadCube/Papers
Tried to make my code faster but instead I noticed and fixed a correctness bug and made it slower ๐ซค๐ฎโ๐จ
