frankly I think tourists from the US *should* be asked this question, and maybe those who voted this way this woman clearly did should have to think for a damn minute about how their actions have impacted others. also: you can't just "get away from all that," for heavens sake.

Closing Hamilton Central Library 'off the table' for now as staff look at other ways to stop on-site drug use | CBC News Staff might start checking people’s library cards before letting them into the Central branch, in an attempt to deter patrons from selling or using drugs inside, says CEO.

Someone shared a post with me about Hamilton being about to require library card checks at the door to enter.

Looks like this is the context.

I do not love any of this.

"It's fun-that's the word for this
movie," writer-director Lucas told The
New York Times, explaining why he
developed the project. "It's for young
people. Graffiti was for 16-year-olds;
this is for 14-year-olds. Young people
don't have a fantasy life anymore, not
the way we did. All they've got is Kojak
and Dirty Harry. There's all these kids
running around wanting to be killer
cops.
"Nobody except Disney makes
movies for young people anymore. I
want to open up the whole realm of
space for them.

STAR WARS
Star Wars, scheduled for release this June, is a massive,
sprawling spectacle of galactic repression, rebellion, and
intrigue; featuring robot, human, and alien heroes, a captured
Princess, larger-than-life villains, and an ancient, mysterious
technique for working one's will, known simply as "the
power." There are also more spaceships of different designs
and functions than have ever appeared before in one film,
including a planet-sized battle machine aptly named the
Pictured on this page are two pre-production paintings that
can only start to suggest the scope and action of this grand-
scale space opera.
Star Wars is a 20th Century-Fox Production.
Above: The scene depicted here is of an imminent
confrontation between the forces of rebellion and those of
repression. On the left are the young farmer-turned-galactic-
hero, Luke Skywalker, and some of his fellow rebels—the
barbarous-looking alien giant is called a Wookie. The deadly
weapon being held by one of the rebels is a light sword or
laser-sabre. The group is about to confront a squad of robot
guards, also equipped for close-quarters fighting.
Below: You are looking out through the cockpit window of
one of the various space-fighters designed for the film. The
"metal planet" that is partially in view is the awesome
Deathstar itself. The action is part of a spectacular space
battle that occurs near the end of the movie. We don't want to
give too much away before you've had the chance to see this
one for yourselves. However, next issue (coinciding with the
movie's premiere) we will be running a full feature on Star
Wars, complete with color stills and behind-the-scenes
information.

Oh no, top cognitive and brain science researchers at Wyrd Science Inc. believe that Wyrd Science, the best tabletop game magazine in the world, may have developed consciousness & all this ‘print is dead’ talk is making it anxious

Maybe you should buy a copy so this little chap doesn’t feel so sad

This ad shows her getting attacked by ICE as she protested.
I was there.
I saw what happened.
It was worse than these clips show, and her bravery was obvious.

After tear gas and pepper balls, after getting thrown to the ground, when the gas cleared she sat at that very spot, and started knitting.

Thinking this morning of how during desert storm every news segment was basically a grainy footage infomercial for “smart” weaponry and how this allowed us to mentally abstract the human beings being blown apart on screen. How adults on TV argued this was ushering in an era of “humane” warfare.

Harrow the Ninth is in second person, its an absolute trip and a challenge to read the first time, but once you finish it and understand what is going on (and *why* it is in second person), it all just clicks. It's one of those books that imo needs to be read twice to be understood.

Craven little bitches.

The nerdzi YouTubers must be shitting themselves though. If enough studios capitulate to right wing weirdos and remove all the “woke” elements, they’ll lose their meal ticket.

Can’t wait to see what kind of straws they clutch at to keep clutching those pearls.

The constituency of Americans who see DEI as detrimental to the country is vanishingly small, the sort of constituency that can easily be ignored if politicians want to ignore it.

Pursuant to this: the purpose of the recent WV Legislature bill which makes trans people using the correct locker rooms guilty of sex offence indecent exposure is very clearly as much to make that particular sex offence plausibly meaningless as it is to persecute trans people

Today is International Women's Day—a fitting date to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Hawkmoon roleplaying game and its lead designer, RPG trailblazer Kerie Campbell-Robson. In 1986, 20 year old Kerie was one of the very first female lead designers in the industry.
