My X was getting me down… 😁 So, I’m just reserving my spot at the moment, whilst I decide if I want to invest in yet another social platform! - Photography Practitioner, Educator. Producer & Project Manager. Hill-walker… davideaton.co.uk

Finally getting round to this, well worth a listen, the exceptional Sally Mann…
It is, Adrian

Life class sketches
Dropped into Cass Art Manchester yesterday to see a friend’s sketches; Len’s more known, in recent times, for his urban sketches but for me the wall of drawings made during a life class were the stars of the show…

I might find myself sharing this round, what with a couple of companies I'm working with insisting on WhatsApp comms during jobs (I've partially solved that through using a 2nd SIM)…

Sally Mann on Desert Island Discs next week (Fri/Sun), I didn’t expect that…

Another, from the generation of photographers who were an inspiration to my ‘generation’, no longer with us…
I’d missed this news initially but was then chatting with a colleague about his work — maybe under appreciated, by comparison with others of his time?

I forgot about this being on iPlayer (and rewatching)! Got to be my age… don’t answer that!
I’m not sure anyone has a flood of emails anymore but apart from that, interesting (though embracing‘boredom’ isn’t new)…
I saw this when on general release but it wouldn’t surprise me if I watched again, to see if my perspective has changed…
Whatever your’s, if you’ve not seen, it’s worth it. Part of our culture and history…

The dumbing of (some in) society…
Thanks Millie, I’ve donated to the darkroom in the past, so probably not looking to buy, just sharing… hope it goes well (any old iron is just a turn of phrase, not a judgement)…
Any old iron (in the shape of darkroom equipment)…
It dawned on me, some of you, here, might need context…!

I don’t usually cross posts from my other life (as an ML) but this seemed to cross boundaries nicely, being more photograph than ‘snap’…

With steep declines in wildlife continuing, none of us can afford for new laws to make this problem worse.
We urge the Government to look at the carefully considered changes we propose to the Planning Bill. Nature can thrive alongside development, but only with the right safeguards in place.
Even though the sound of it is something quite .. true.
Though the core of Format has passed, there’s still a number of exhibits running, glad I got to see Blakemore…

Oh, and another quote for you, this time courtesy of that guy with the iPad artwork… 🙃
An afternoon visit to @impressions-gallery.com Bradford and Aïda Muluneh’s work The Necessity of Seeing, as part of Nationhood: Memory & Hope. It stood out, for all the right reasons…
(On until 26th April, I think…?)
…my favourite quote had to come from Grayson and not to do with Parr’s work but the ‘establishment’ as he saw:
Oh “photography suffers with it greatly… academe”
Finally got round to seeing the M. Parr documentary and for any reservations I might have had, after a few reviews, I’ve got to admit it was engaging, entertaining; there could have been a broader critique but I can reflect on that myself. Worth a look…
