いつの日か…短編で良いので「チョロQダグラム」的なノリの「ほのぼのボトムズ」が観たいなぁ……

watching the new nerrel video. this indie developer he is interviewing is citing not being able to turn in midair in mario 64 as a "problem" to be "fixed." this developer is saying "if i made a game that controls like mario 64 today, no one would want to play it." i think i'm gonna lose it.
this man just said that if you've played the 2002 resident evil remake, you have effectively also played the 1996 original. this man is straight delulu.
nerrel has always been something of a tech fetishist but this time he's really going maximum overdrive. this dude is really saying ocarina of time is a hard game to revisit today. this man has fried his brain on texture packs and pc recomps. i don't even like zelda and i wouldn't say that shit.
I can’t believe they’re selling GBA ROMs for an overpriced $20. They should have sold GB ROMs for an overpriced $20 instead because Red and Blue are way better games.
this is the downside of every indie dev and armchair game designers' favorite platformer series being mega man
A thing I'm realizing is a lot of people see a car or an airplane in a game as a way to get their character somewhere else, and not as the gameplay itself.
They don't see the skill of manipulating the vehicle itself as gameplay because of FPS/3PS.
I'm coining this now as a term: "Shooter-Brain"
Loran Cehack from Turn A Gundam, a piece of bread stuffed in his mouth
I've been thinking about him a lot lately I miss him
tweet from megaphilx: "Everyone on here going apeshit saying 'it's not a big deal' berating/ridiculing someone who is tired of the pronoun thing kinda defeats the purpose of the 'it's not a big deal' thing."
three tweets from a random that reads as follows: "unlimited megaman, limited views on gender" "me inbetween jacking off to 16 year old girl drawings: this pronoun things a big deal" "Phil: my 16 year old girlfriend better not transition i swear to god"
one of the funniest things my friends and i will never forget when it comes to countless mega man fandom bullshittery is when megaphilx had a transphobia moment and some rando very quickly hopped into his replies to whip him into shape and got him to delete the tweet the day of. actual hero
as others pointed out, thought he was doing the Wacko’s countries we’ve couped but then he said “Batman” and I immediately wanted to die
arcade games weren't fundamentally designed around gambling, either. they were entirely predictable. also, like... that practice once died out as the primary economic model? which was a good thing? the fact Hitler existed before does not absolve someone using necromancy to revive him.
for what feels like the trillionth time: a skilled player could theoretically beat an arcade game on a single credit on their first attempt.
modern microtransaction-funded games are designed to keep the player hooked with deliberately impossible situations with victory just slightly out of reach
The RW rise was in response to ISIS and the migrant crisis and was entirely Gen-X/Boomer led until 2022! Most of the zoomers who became wignats were literally too young for GG and the largest RW push came from the manosphere.
Honestly think a lot of people want their internet spats to be bigger and more important than they actually are.
This man was crushed and destroyed and no one helped him
I do often wonder how battle city megaroad would’ve turned out if it kept the tone that was initially intended cause there’s a lot of stuff in sdf that (naturally) lends itself to that
The Daedalus attack is the funniest thing in sdf, imagine if I punched you so hard that my hand was inside your chest and then my hand opened up to reveal 500 little homunculi with guns and they all shot at you
Uni rarely meows now, but he used to meow like this
Kinda fucks me up that the final boss of raidou remastered was the only one where the new combat system actually felt like a meaningful improvement over the old one to me
This isn't to say that it's not good to have wide breadth of knowledge and experience, but 'the youth are wrong, they need to look at the real classics' like I saw some people posting to this is absolutely off.
Which would have gotten you laughed out of the room if you said they'd be what would create some of the most impressive works of the 20th century in terms of mass media pop culture.
Because 'those weren't the classy things real artists read'
Or to put it another way, it's staggering how many things people hold up as as absolute classics where made because the creator was really into some 'low culture creation' from their childhood. Pulp novels and radio serials that were never meant to be more than disposable.
If you want to talk about why media landscapes keep regurgitating nostalgia so blatantly, it's not the fault of artists not looking 'outside' (whatever that means when anything can be outside for someone depending on their own experience).
It's because various media companies own the rights to certain properties and want them (or things very similar to them) to be made into perpetuity for the sake of profit.
I kind of hate how everyone claps along to this whenever if comes around when, if you think about it, it's the most boomer-ass take possible.
"Why don't the kids get inspired by what I read and watched as a kid?"
Because they aren't your generation.
i think looking at a video game as "too videogamey" is reductive to the medium and no different from what people make fun of last of us fans for lol

no way they got a reimari rampage ghost in this game
