Adventure seeker fueled by wanderlust and a love for two wheels. Prefers the road less traveled—usually because it's covered in mud, rocks, and a healthy dose of questionable judgment. Why take the easy path when the off-road one makes for better stories?

It may be worth reminding everyone that, on this social network (unlike the more musky one that it imitates), likes have essentially zero effect on a post's visibility: only reposts do.
If a post is worth sharing with others, you should repost it: a like just shows private support to the author.

In a few days, the annual Saudi Sportswashing Extravaganza begins. I used to love the Dakar Rally - seems like such an adventure, and the visuals are stunning - but I stopped watching when it moved to Saudi Arabia. It is being staged to distract from the fact SA is a brutal and murderous regime.
20 years ago we were suing teenagers for millions of dollars because they were torrenting a single Metallica album and now billionaires are demanding the free right to every work in history, so that they can re-sell it.

Can also recommend taking a one day adventure riding course. Gives you way more confidence off-road, especially if you have a heavy bike. And a great way to meet a few people to ride dirt with.
Reason #62 to ride on dirt roads: usually tighter curves so slower speeds still provide lots of fun while reducing potential for injuries. Also a much reduced chance of encountering other traffic.

The Trophy is a great place to start. There are riders of all abilities and experience, and instructors on hand for help and advice. The first day is a training day and a chance to meet everyone, before hitting the road.
Awesome, this is my 3rd one. Have you done (anything like) it before?
Really? Are you doing the Travel Trophy?
It’s amazing how the weight just disappears once you get moving, especially on the BMW boxers as the weight is carried so low. Even at slow speeds.

Watch 'The Spy Who Loved Me' for a Z900. At 16 I worked at a petrol Stn nr Slough. A guy came in on a Z900 and put in 50p of petrol in. He'd collected the bike from Kawa and he was going to Pinewood studios then it was going to Sardinia and it would go off a cliff in a Bond film. I cried..
Ténéré Travel Trophy 2025 badge, showing flags of the destination countries, Denmark, Sweden and Norway. Also depicts a stylised image of a Ténéré 700 and the Ténéré Spirit logo.
So, I will be going to Norway next June. :-)
