Hey @martintale.com I'd be curious to hear your feedback/thoughts on @doing.tools - very fast, local, private voice transcription for mac. It's not free/open source, but also not a subscription. Built for working for Claude Code, etc.

NVIDIA's Parakeet TDT model is the default, which in practice runs at least 10x faster than other local models like whisper. Even with a 5 or 10 minute dictation, the transcription time feels instantaneous.
You can also use Apple's new foundation model on macos 26+, but it is much slower.

Exactly. It should be way easier to own your adventure data and do useful stuff with it. That's what the first version I'm working on is going to help facilitate.

I asked Claude Code to build a joke based network using the atproto skill, and it pretty much one-shotted this app complete with lexicon validation, jetstream integration, etc. Wild.

It was more useful / interesting before all the other ai companies had web search and deep research. Now what it does feels like a commodity.
