New Paper out with @financeandspace.bsky.social (open access!) about attempts to make voluntary carbon markets 'liquid' via legal standardization, and a source of climate finance for the Global South. Plenty of strange things happening in the process. www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....

Estimates from UK and Netherlands suggest global revenues from the global minimum tax will be around 30% lower under the "side-by-side" agreement (US carve-out).
This is line with @taxobservatory.bsky.social modelling from 2024 of the temporary UTPR exemption, so seems a credible magnitude.

Det vi har misforstΓ₯et i Danmark er at man ikke bare kan diskutere en "formueskat". I andre lande fΓ₯r det sin egen nomenklatur. Buffett-skatten, Zuckerberg-skatten, Zucman-skatten, ultra-millionΓ¦r-skatten, oligark-skatten. Hvor er vi henne? Mette-skatten, Seier-skatten, Morten Skov-skatten? Nej vel?

Big consultancies risk believing in their own βmagicβ
Consultants will fail to confront their shortcomings if they place too much faith in their reputation-fixing skills
"So what happens when a reputation for professional expertise and exemplary management becomes tarnished by yet another scandal?"
My colleague Laura Empson on the waning magic of big consultancies:

Deloitte shake-up of international structure set to trigger UK leadership race
Overhaul will bind operations in 80 countries across Europe and Middle East
The Big Four's loose legal network structures have, for a long time, helped the firms grow their global footprint and hedge against risks. But with increasing reputational pressure and investment needs, stronger hierarchical integration is well on the cards

Harnessing network power: Weaponised interdependence in global tax policy
For decades, global tax policy has grappled with the challenge of mobile capital, failing to harness the regulatory potential of network power. This oversight has allowed tax havens to flourish, and ...
One thing I show in here which was picked up by some of the βEU weaponizeβ crowd:
βAlthough only around one fifth of the world's largest multinationals are headquartered in the European Union, more than 80% have a legal presence in the [EU]β
