Drugs are Cheap if Patents Don’t Make Them Expensive: The Medicines for the People Act Patent monopolies drive drug prices and corruption; Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s proposal would fund drug research publicly and allow medicines to be sold at low market prices.

*Publicly funded drug research—like the system proposed in Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s bill—could replace patent monopolies, reducing prices and corruption while still supporting innovation*

That comes to $60k per household, but hey who wouldn't pay that so Donnie can feel tough?

In Donald Trump's America, anything is possible!

It's not just Trump. I'm guessing that any politician of either party who has regular visits from fossil fuel industry lobbyists is similarly motivated to keep these cars out of the US. And they all need to be primaried by people who give a damn about the future of our planet.

I have a PHEV and love it. I occasionally have to drive a couple hundred miles in a day for work in rural areas with very limited charging options. Even decent sized cities in my area are sparse on chargers. But most of the time I can do all my driving in a day in EV mode.

Drugs are Cheap if Patents Don’t Make Them Expensive: The Medicines for the People Act If intellectuals weren't scared of new ideas, we would be debating alternative financing mechanisms

Drugs would be cheap if the government didn't give drug companies patent monopolies. Rep. Tlaib's bill offers an alternative deanbaker22.substack.com/p/drugs-are-...

While we're spending American capital trying to figure out how best to make middle class job skills obsolete, the Chinese are making widely beneficial technological innovation the norm. Charging 200+ miles of range in ~5 minutes is wild

5 minutes from 20% to 80%, maybe you should recharge before you get to 10%

company. I think what BYD is showing is real. Again, when in production and on the road, we shall see. I think the main point is that China is moving forward into the future while America is going backwards.

To put this charging rate in perspective, 2 km per second = 4,500 mph.

This is an old argument that dates at least to Vietnam days. Because we have troops there, we have to keep the war going. It wasn't a good argument 60 years ago and it has not improved with age.

These BYD 🚗 are going to be all over Canada and Mexico. Just a matter of time before they get to the USA.This should have been done by Tesla, but Elon is too distracted.
In the meantime, the DJT administration will do its best to make sure US companies and infrastructure fall farther behind.

If only Kamala Harris had been elected president, engineers in Columbus, Ohio would be building leading edge semiconductors and union workers in Lordstown Ohio would be making batteries for American made EVs.

What a difference right-wing propaganda makes.

Kristi Noem has done a stunning amount of damage and it’s good she’s gone.

But this doesn’t change the fact that we need a complete overhaul of DHS, impartial investigations into the killings of two American citizens, and information on children that were taken from Minnesota.
