Even better, people doing surgery on themselves through a mirror angled to the audience. Was watching The Martian the other night and that surgery/mirror scene jumped out to me. Master and Commander and Ronin both do the same thing. T2 deleted scene gets an honorary mention for the fake mirror.

Also interesting to me how movies with extremely different tones/visual styles can use essentially identical versions of this fictional POV view. Here is Fantastic Mr. Fox and Fury.

Better Call Saul did, if I recall correctly. And The Crown episode about the royal yacht had a bunch circular binocular POVs. Perhaps I should start a competing site with just binocular shots done RIGHT.

I've done plenty of binocular shots like these in movies and TV shows. It is a perfect example of the difference between reality and cinematic reality. Although technically wrong, it is what the audience expects. Even Christopher Nolan did it in Dunkirk.

I've been kicking around this Pentax K1000 3D model for years now, and finally put a bunch of renders and whatnot together in this Behance project.

Blocking out the interior of the Tintin rocket, and thought it would be fun to see what it feels like in VR.

Modeling something from scratch is fun, but this right here is the skill I end up needing 90% of the time.

Still noodling around in 3D with the Tintin rocket. Thinking a super detailed cutaway model would be fun. Really embracing the 1940s/50s look of it in the books, making it as tactile and realistic as possible.

Giving Thomas Bangalter and DJ Falcon credits on "Call On Me" is a nice touch.

versionUp
Easily cycle between every version of your footage.
I released my AE script versionUp almost exactly 10 years ago! Still works in After Effects 2025, and I just fixed a small bug today. I hope some of you have found it useful over the years.
Itโs available as "Name Your Own Price" if youโve never tried it out.
