Hopefully my efforts to reimagine some of those levels will bring more enjoyment to some fundamentally good concepts. TR1&2 struck the right balance and avoided those pitfalls, maintaining challenge for players but not so much they stop playing. A sense of progression and reward is key in any game.
For TR3, I've noticed small and big things which cause excessive frustration - the move from quads to triangles complicate navigation of terrain, less obvious lighting, flares are overly limited, trap soften can't be dodged without prior knowledge of them being there. A chaotic difficulty curve.
So verdict appears to be from first timers playing TR1-3: TR1 and 2's level design holds up well. Challenging but enjoyable. TR3 not so much which is a shame but not surprising to see it hasn't dated so well.
I think we can safely put to bed the idea now the classic TR games and games like that have no audience. So many first time players coming to the franchise and enjoying themselves. Great to see.
PSA to TR fans - we are seeing signs of an extreme crunch period for Aspyr. Big changes to textures and geometry across THREE games less than two weeks before release. Whatever our thoughts the screenshots, this appears to be a team given an unrealistic amount of work for such a short time frame.

One thing I don't think those playing TRLEs (but don't build) realise is how closely builders work with each other on their projects. We usually don't collaborate officially but we are on Discord servers and forums helping each other on a daily basis. It all adds up.
Work has started again on Thames Wharf this week. Busy working on assets still but starting to build as I go too.
Some reviews and comments about my level since release have been a bit overwhelming! A year ago I was happy to let it collect dust because I thought it couldn't be appreciated as a stand-alone level. This gives me confidence about finishing the wider project. I'm so glad most seem to be enjoying it.

I have a demo level releasing very soon! Just in time for Christmas. It's a level that has been almost complete since last year.
I want to give something to the community after being away for so long. Now is the right time. :)

Fun fact - the font used on those bins in the loading screen is Vendome - the very same font used for the European classic TR logo!
Thames Wharf remake is still at style unit / assets stage. But I have some things to show. :)
Working on lots of assets for Thames Wharf. The remake isn't a remaster but some textures are being remastered where the intention is too apply them over larger areas (so still keeping it to 64x64 size per square). This is one example.
I am remaking TR3 London.
Aldwych Tube Station (previously called Strand) at the southern end of Kingsway, London. The station opened in 1907 and finally closed in 1994. It was the only station on a branch line from the Piccadilly Line from Holborn.
