P.O.D. — Proof of Destruction — Mr Chip Software (C64 full tape load C64emu 60Hz no commentary)
YouTube video by Level106
POD (C64)
A pure and simple shoot-em-up, for either one or two players. Each level is timed, so you decide whether it's easier to shoot them or avoid them. But explosions damage the self-repairing grid. So you can get blocked if things blow up in the wrong place.

Night Mission Pinball — Sublogic (C64 disk load C64emu 60Hz no commentary)
YouTube video by Level106
Night Mission Pinball (C64)
The graphics haven't changed at all from the Apple II original (hence my decision to run C64emu in green-screen mode), but it does a good job of feeling like a genuine pinball table. The SID-chip is flexed well to add some WWII ambiance.

Cool! I haven't seen a decent gravity game on the C64 since.. 1986? 😊

Is this between stages, or have I just stopped for fuel? Guess I have to play this again to remind me what it's all about. 😊

I like the wee helicopter flying overhead. Gives me distinct Spyhunter vibes. 😎
Rally Bike (arcade)
I must have taken too many screen-shots over the years, coz I have snaps of an arcade game called Rally Bike that I can't remember taking at all. Think I have to revisit it now. Gorgeous SWIV-like GFX. A bit like Zippy Race/Traverse USA got a makeover. 😊

Locomotion
Locomotion is a Commodore 64 puzzle brain game released in 1992 by Kingsoft.
Was surprised that I didn't know about this. Then I saw when it was released, which was about when most of my friends had moved to Amiga or PC, my brother was no longer buying Zzap!64, so I was playing the C64 back catalogue, rather than finding about anything new.

I think they over-complicated it with the ice skating event.
There were some moves that only worked when you were facing a particular way. Guess they wanted people to take the time to learn it. They underestimated my lack of attention-span. 😊

And lets not forget the sequel. For me, it was the perfect follow-up: futuristic metalic landscape, single-shots become double-shots, add a homing missile, and sprinkle some wee call-back easter eggs throughout the game. I've always got a spare credit for Time Pilot '84 too. 😄

I do like the look of the clear ones..
But — I must be old — it's the basic beige ones that make me feel most at home.

The event is over, and the score is certainly not spectacular.
Do I feel motivated to try it again? No. Not really. 😋
Winter Games (C64)
With the Milano Cortina 2026 games over, once again the ice skating was amazing. Once again, revisiting the skating events in Winter Games, I still can't get comfortable with the controls. ..Maybe it'll click in 2030.

There were people who hacked it, and knew how to search for text in the game and change it.. I usually didn't realise until the starting grid was displayed. Looked innocent enou.. Ho boy! 😮
(Their ideas lacked subtlety though.) 😋

Arcade Game: Blaster (1983 Williams) [Re-Uploaded]
YouTube video by Old Classic Retro Gaming
Huh.. Interesting that they went for unfilled polys. 🤔
The first version of Blaster I saw was on the Apple II, I thought.
Can't find any evidence it exists now, so maybe it was a fever-dream. 😊
The arcade game is a cool trippy experience.

Winter Games — Hot Dog (C64)
Freestyle Skiing is the proper name for this event now. But Hot Dog sounds cool, so I won't take any issue with that. Besides, it's a really fun event. If you time it right you can fit in two moves in a single jump.. If you time it right. 😊

Some would say this is a map of New Zealand.
Some would say it's an artistic interpretation of what their dog threw-up on the carpet.
Who can tell? 😐
This, according to Google, is what New Zealand looks like.
This looks about right to me. But given the weird circuitous routes I've taken between Christchurch, Queenstown, and Dunedin, I'm probably not a good authority on that. 😊
The other bit of artwork crime perpetuated by the New Zealand Story artists.. And one that makes any New Zealander to "what the heck?" Their map of New Zealand. Which looks like it was drawn by a three year old. A drunk three year old. 😮
(Google Map for comparison.)

New Zealand Story (Amiga)
The Amiga conversion of the fun arcade platform game, where you have to save your kiwi friends, who have been kidnapped by an evil walrus.
It's an enjoyable game, but I wish the artists had gone for backgrounds that aren't so dominated by yellow+brown. 🤔

Super Pipeline II — Taskset (C64 C64emu 60Hz no commentary)
YouTube video by Level106
Love the cartoon-y look of the players and aliens. Quite abstract enemy creatures, but they still have character to them.
For those crazy people who don't want to wait for the cassette to load, or for whom clicking through the chapter-points is too much effort: 😄

Super Pipeline II (C64)
Loading Super Pipeline II off of cassette is a surprisingly soothing process. 😊 An excellent game. I think I could make it further, but setting chapter points for all the funny intermissions was the most important thing to do. 😄
