It feels very trivial, given the lightness of my prescription. But I'm still annoyed at ICE for damaging my glasses. I really liked them, and I won't time to get them fixed or replaced for at least a few more days. #AbolishICE #Spokane
Sharing my truth. I'm not at the #NoKings protest today b/c I need to protect my mental health. But I support them, and I'm proud of Spokane for showing up by the thousands.

Just listened to "Auntie Diaries" by Kendrick Lamar and on this particular day, at this particular moment in history it damn near makes me want to cry.
“The Irritating Gentleman” by Berthold Woltze. A slimy looking guy bothering a young woman traveling alone and clearly in mourning
Contrary to the pundit class’ insistence, someone talking to you on public transit has been so reviled for so long there was a painting about it 150 years ago
They are gearing up to arrest some mayors, police chiefs, or governors who they think are obstructing them. That Wisconsin judge was just an appetizer. bsky.app/profile/theb...
Sounds horrific. 😂
Thank you for joining me on this barge to hell. 😂
“Downloading and archiving data in private or non-governmental repositories is a double-edged sword. It allows archivists to make multiple copies… But saving such data on platforms owned by US-based companies could be risky if those companies are later compelled by the government to delete the data”
Semi-relatedly, I suppose you can also follow my frustration on IG and Threads! @archer.jac
So far no luck here, Fb, IG, Threads...
Learned abt these r'ships in an article re:unexpected & negative mental/emotional health fx of losing them suddenly, completely and/or permanently b/c of lockdown.
Study on them seemed to briefly increase, but I can't remember their name to save my life.
The pandemic wrecked havoc on these relationships, & there's been some limited scholarship on how losing them affects mental health. (I think primarily in the U.S. and other "western" places that locked down for long periods of time.
Can ANYONE remember the word for these relationships?
(2/2)
Word nerds! Help me remember the word for the following:
The structured, specific, easily severed, but often precious relationships we build w/ service workers, etc. thru casual, frequent interaction.
(E.g. mailman, favorite coffee-shop barista, bank teller, grocery store clerk, etc.)

😂Okay...but there's something to this.

I've long been skeptical of public service forgiveness, which is precisely why I've never included government forgiveness in my financial planning.
That said, I still took on 6-figure debt (after scholarships). Hoping beyond hope the risks I've chosen pay off, or at least don't cripple me.
Snap...I better check on this.
I didn't watch the Superbowl, but I did watch the halftime show. I was pretty excited as someone who's been playing GNX on repeat for weeks now.
It was a solid performance, with unexpected verses and a compelling conceit.
Has anyone done a welfare check on Drake lately?
Rest in Peace, President Carter. You never got the recognition you deserved as a President, but you are certainly remembered as a good man. Thank you for your service.
The Nobel Peace Prize winner devoted himself to improving the health of people around the world, promoting democracy and resolving global conflicts.
Knowledge of the rules should facilitate their function.
There will always be bad actors. We can't outrun or hide from them. We have to be willing to confront and deal with them, and in so doing publicly defined our values.
True neutrality doesn't exist. Accept that and commit to a vision.
And yet... if the anageent doesn't step up we'll be well on our way.
One thing I've learned from law school (and teaching, and community organizing, and management) is that good policy NEVER relies upon the ignorance of bad actors. #harassment
ikr.
here’s me 14 days ago saying im happy to pay for bsky.
here’s me 1 day ago saying i won’t.
@jay.bsky.team are fumbling the bag over a pedofile apologist and bigoted propagandist who is already the most blocked person on the entire platform. 🤷♀️
Damn...I actually let myself beive this place would be better than Twitter was. My bad. *disappointed sigh*

Each a modern classic … that you’ve heard a hundred times.
NPR Music’s list of the Best Songs of 2024 includes them, of course, but we’ve got 120 more that we’re betting you’re not sick of yet.

Well...over a year after I originally joined I can say I genuinely don't miss Twitter. I've been much more active on Threads, but I also just do less social media now. I think the reduction has been good.
That said, gonna give this space another go. Hello again!
How do we build a world where the better idea wins?
#Threads finally provides a viable alternative to Twitter (in scale and usability) that includes the things I used to go to Twitter for. But I'm not gonna leave BlueSky or Mastadon. I'm leaving #Twitter for good and diversifying my apps. Now I feel like I won't lose everything if I go. (6/6)
That said, w/ Threads providing a real challenge to Twitter, & Twitter in freefall, the conversations I follow finally seem to be moving elsewhere. Even if I don't have everything I had before in one app, I may be able to get it thru several apps. Twitter is a cesspool and I'm ready to be out. (5/x)
