Slices of Life: How Hobbies Make Us Better Developers π
Wow, I just realized that @pleasedontrain.com hit its 3 year anniversary. Thank you to every person that supported me with this.
I made the app to fix a pain point AND have a creative outlet to learn from. It's still ticking those boxes!
Still chasing that dream of any mention on the App Store...

One of my favorite tips that I ever got (don't remember from who) was to put emoji in your log messages.
When I look at a log file I can with a quick glance immediately get a sense of the steps that happened.

Before the Code: Testing & Building a Business π
For the people that worked on passkeys it has got to feel frustrating how all over the place their implementation is.
* Some places just let me use my passkey.
* Some places make me enter my email before I use my passkey.
* Some places make me enter a TOTP code after I use my passkey. (whyyyyyyyy?)
iOS keyboard showing the options "shun", shunning, and shunt. "shun" is in quotes like an unrecognized word would be.
It's always confusing when the iOS keyboard seems to imply that a word I know exists doesn't exist.
The usage was "How dare them shun <city name>?"
Can't recommend applying enough for this, especially if you're a first time speaker.
The numbers at the bottom of a logo say 11-13.04.2025
Me, a person who gave a conference talk about dates and time zones, confused for a few seconds about what the numbers at the bottom meant. π€¦π»ββοΈ
Text(isEditing ? "hello0" : "hello1") Text(isEditing ? String(localized: .completeCloudCover) : "hello2") Text(isEditing ? StringConstants.StrDone : "Add to Queue")
Production code wouldn't look like this but I was experimenting with different wordings and realized that in this scenario only hello0 and hello1 would get extracted to the Xcode String Catalog.

Wow thatβs a tough one. I only use VO in my app and my onboarding is just describing the existing elements.
I debated putting that in my conference talk about time zones and now I wish I would have.
Me when I get a customer request for a new feature that I know is going to have a nasty time zone component.
Congrats Yannick!
Introducing my first macOS app: DocommentsβA delightful way to add notes to your files π
Recently, Iβve felt the need to add short comments to files as a kind of change log. So I built my own app! If it fits your workflow, why not give it a try?π

I just searched for a song in Apple Music, started playing it, and then switched to doing some work.
When the song was over Apple Music took over the foreground, switched to full screen mode, and then started playing the music video for the song I just listened to.
Who would want that behavior? π΅βπ«
Absolutely hate junk notifications.

Me when I realize Joseph has to deal with time zones also.
Between time zone work on @pleasedontrain.com and dealing with iOS Dev Happy Hour schedules I am on this website so much.
I love it!
