When Americans talk about healthcare, they pretty much only actually think in terms of the health insurance industry. The actual healthcare is harder to think about than the whole financialized process of paying for it, applying for it, etc.
Is this a hint for the new show (coming next year!), or is it Shadows in Smoke related?
It's Wednesday, and there's a lot of stuff going on (but... when isn't there these days?)
Maybe distract yourself with the newest episode of the Survival Guide, where we discuss the Broken Fang tribe of Cara Fahd.

Whoops! Had everything all set and ready to go for this week's episode of the Earthdawn Survival Guide, but in the prep for the holiday forgot to push the big blue "publish" button.
That has been corrected! In Episode 238 we talk about the shard "Tournament Troubles".
We finally started our Women in TTRPG Starter Pack!

Go check out this epic list of amazing women, working and creating in the TTRPG space.
Weβll also keep adding to this list over time so make sure you check back.
Earthdawn.
Absolutely.
Hey, kids! Don't take 25 years to learn this lesson! Accept the wisdom of your elders!
Oh, I know that *now*. It just took me too long to learn that lesson.
(Some of that was letting go of my own ego, to be fair.)
YES!
The times I've suffered from GM burnout has almost always been from the amount of work I was doing on my own for the game. I didn't realize/learn what the problem actually was until I got into more collaborative game environments.
Uuugh.
Click-click-block.
(And I don't need to "ask his actual opinion" on stuff before blocking, because I've been around and he's made it perfectly clear what they are.)
(Now we need to work on her study habits and make sure homework gets done. She takes a little after me in the neuro-spicy department, and has trouble engaging with material that doesn't interest her. Test scores? Solid. Homework.... not so much.)
So today I am thankful for those educators, and the administration that supports them.
I am also thankful for my younger daughter, who has been advocating for herself since she was little.
It struck me how *wonderful* that is.
And... how normal it felt.
This is all we want; to see her treated with kindness and respect, and allowed to live her authentic self.
ALL of her teachers used her correct pronouns and chosen name. No issues, no grumbling, no need for corrections.
The school district, while not perfect, has been supportive through the entire process; this isn't a new thing.
But with everything that's been going on lately...
This week is parent-teacher conferences, and I make it a habit to meet with all of my kids' teachers. Been doing this since they were in grade school.
Tuesday evening was my turn, nine meetings scheduled between the two kids.
My youngest is trans, and has been 'out' since 6th grade.
Taking a sidestep from the gaming stuff for a minute, because I want to share a recent experience that has me thankful.
I'm a single dad to two teenagers, both in high school (freshman and senior).

I've got digital copies of that... but not in print (yet).
You don't need to sell me on it, I already have a copy on my shelf (physical AND digital)!

Right now? I'm playing Jacob Rath, "The Fallen" in an Apocalypse Keys game that is a lot of fun. A bit of Lucifer (from the TV show) mixed with a touch of tent revival preacher. Actually a cthonic entity that is fascinated with humans and their emotions but doesn't quite 'get' them.
There are a lot of things I would go back and change/revise/update, but the thought of a new edition is incredibly daunting.
As the saying goes, being "apolitical" usually supports the oppressor.
There's a reason I got a subscription as soon as they became available.
"If a woman doesn't look woman enough to a Republican, they want to be able to inspect your genitals to use a bathroom? It's disgusting.
Everyone should reject it completely... they're endangering women, they're endangering girls of all kind, and everyone should reject it. It's gross." - AOC
