Our resolution is in solidarity with the City of Philadelphia, which appeared in federal court this morning in an effort to return the exhibit to Independence Mall.
I'm proud to have introduced a resolution alongside my fellow Democratic Senators from Philadelphia to condemn the cowardly dismantling of the President’s House Memorial—a commemoration of the nine Black men and women enslaved by President George Washington.

Abolish ICE.
In cities and towns and communities across the country, Americans have shown up and spoken out to condemn ICE’s violence and protect their neighbors.
In the wake of a second murder in Minneapolis by ICE agents, we need immediate action and accountability. Congress must dismantle and abolish ICE.
The President’s House exhibit was a sacred memorial that rendered visible the lives of people who shaped our country amidst their violent enslavement by its leaders. Let Trump’s attempt to erase our country’s past fortify our work for freedom and justice.
As federal agents increasingly use force against residents, states must take every action possible to uphold the constitutional rights guaranteed to everyone on US. soil. That’s why Sen. Comitta and I introduced legislation to allow Pennsylvanians to challenge federal abuses of power in state court.
AveArts 2.0 shows us that we can have a city that is culturally magnetic, broadly accessible, and environmentally resilient. We need not choose between these qualities. Rather, we build it block by block.
