JIT Image Manipulation is already bundled with #Sym8 β no manual update required.
But it also works with existing Symphony CMS projects still running on PHP 7 β that's why the extension is in its own GitHub repository.
These improvements will ship with Sym8 version 2.84.1 on December 2.
The JIT Image Manipulation extension has been improved!
It now supports two additional image formats: BMP and #AVIF.
Compatibility has been enhanced by adding conditional imagedestroy() and unset() logic for #PHP7 and #PHP8 environments.

A first maintenance update β 2.84.1 β is scheduled for December 2.
It fixes issues with the initial workspace and improves JIT image support. Full changelog will be published on release day.

𧩠The same applies to the Extensions backend page.
#Sym8 takes this idea further:
π The Extensions page now lists all extensions β including extended details and a direct link to each README.
Screenshot of the Symphony system log, now accessible directly via the backend under the System menu.
π Did you know? For years, #Symphony had a menu item for the internal Activity Log β but it was hidden.
In navigation.xml:
<item link="/system/log/" ... visible="no" />
In #Sym8, this βhidden featureβ is no longer a secret:
β
The log is now directly accessible in the backend via the System menu.
Is your #PHP version still safe?
π΄ PHP 8.0 β β End of life (no updates)
π‘ PHP 8.1 / 8.2 β β οΈ Security fixes only
π’ PHP 8.3 / 8.4 β β
Active support
Sym8 makes this visible right in your dashboard β no guesswork, no digging in docs.
Why mandatory?
Because the dashboard restores transparency & trust:
β’ immediate clarity about the environment youβre running
β’ always up-to-date with release information
With Sym8 you donβt need to dig through docs or changelogs β the essentials are right in your backend.

Every fresh #Sym8 installation comes with the Dashboard extension β itβs not optional.
π₯οΈ The dashboard provides a system overview (Sym8 + PHP versions, sections, data sources, entries, β¦) and a live changelog feed directly from sym8.io.
This versioning scheme is designed to restore trust among developers by making it immediately clear which PHP version is fully supported β without needing to read through changelogs or compatibility notes.

Why Sym8 starts at version 2.84.0?
There is a clear logic behind the scheme:
β’ 2οΈβ£ β reflects the underlying Symphony codebase
β’ 8οΈβ£4οΈβ£ β maximum supported PHP version (8.4)
β’ 0οΈβ£ β patch level
