You know what would have helped with this sudden isolation we now find ourselves in?

Not leaving the damned EU.

For fuck’s sake.

This 10000%. Immigration is entirely necessary, not just to fill jobs but to fund our economy.

05.03.2026 12:53 πŸ‘ 16 πŸ” 5 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Just to clarify, my own view on immigration:

It is deeply necessary to counter the cliff edge we’re facing because of our rapidly ageing population.

Labour is not having the right conversation - we don’t need to stop immigration, we need to explain why it’s critical for our survival.

05.03.2026 11:51 πŸ‘ 167 πŸ” 42 πŸ’¬ 10 πŸ“Œ 3

Quick Question:

Even if you do believe that immigration is too high (questionable), do you think that the current approach being taken by the Labour government towards immigration is appropriate?

If yes, why?

If no, also why?

Then isn’t that a bit of a silly point to start off from?

UK to further curtail rights of asylum seekers Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood will tighten rules on access to accommodation and financial support

I see lessons have not been learned from the spectacular loss of Gorton and Denton.

If Labour insists on continuing down this route, then they do honestly deserve to lose the next GE.

Utterly infuriating.

Isabel Oakeshott: Economic Migrant, Tax Exile, Future Evacuee? The commentators who fled Britain for lower taxes have built careers sneering at the country they left - yet still rely on it when the world turns dangerous.

The Venn Diagram is a circle, and crosses very nicely with the people who are so very keen to not pay their taxes while shitting on the British state that will still be doing any evacuation if they may need it.

Somehow my post from this morning has turned into my best performing piece on Bearly Politics to date - which leads me to conclude that either:

1. You guys missed me!

Or,

2. People really, really dislike Isabel Oakeshott.

For those who don’t know. Isabel is the girlfriend of Reforms Richard Tice. An Islamophobe who bangs on about no go London, Sharia law, invasions etc

She moved to Dubai with her kids because she didn’t like paying tax & contributing to her country now it’s being bombed

"People migrate - one of the most normal human behaviours in history, for millenia.

What isn’t legitimate, however, is spending years building a media career on contempt for the country you left while simultaneously expecting that country to bail you out when things go sideways."

04.03.2026 09:10 πŸ‘ 69 πŸ” 21 πŸ’¬ 3 πŸ“Œ 0

β€œOakeshott did not move to Dubai because she was persecuted in the United Kingdom, nor did she immigrate to flee censorship or imprisonment.

She moved, in her own words, for tax reasons, specifically VAT on private schooling - something that makes her, say it with me, an economic migrant.”

And if you are in a position to support the publication with a paid subscription - thank you. It genuinely helps keep this slightly chaotic bear on the internet writing.

However you’re here - reader, commenter, sharer, or supporter - I’m grateful.

Bearly Politics exists because of you.

But I’m also very aware that things are tight for a lot of people right now.

So, on that basis, I would like to remind everyone of my standing offer.

If you’d like access to the Bearly Politics archive but can’t justify a paid subscription at the moment, just send me an email.

Life is expensive. Care costs are brutal. People have families and responsibilities that have to come first.

I am incredibly grateful to everyone who chooses to support Bearly Politics financially. It really does help keep the publication running and allows me to spend time researching and writing.

So, someone emailed me last week to apologise for cancelling their Bearly Politics subscription because care costs are rising.

And honestly, that email genuinely broke my heart a little. Nobody should ever feel guilty about that.

Powerful commentary by @bearlypolitics.co.uk. Actually, in a curious way, made me proud to be British!

I have no doubt that a selection of entitled citizens of Rome, were sitting on the terraces of Pompei deriding the β€˜broken state of the empire’ when the lava began flowing and their place in an evacuation galley became an entitled necessity.

04.03.2026 06:52 πŸ‘ 32 πŸ” 6 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

Isabel Oakeshott: anti-migration commentator, economic migrant to Dubai, possible future evacuee of the very British state she insists is broken.

Isn’t it funny how mobility becomes acceptable when it’s your own?

04.03.2026 06:05 πŸ‘ 687 πŸ” 252 πŸ’¬ 33 πŸ“Œ 17

The fact that Isabel Oakeshott, economic migrant to the UAE may just turn into a refugee fleeing to the UK from a war zone will cause a level of schadenfreude in me that may just make me topple right over.

NEWS Foreign-born voters stole by-election, Farage blasts, amid rising alarm over suspected poll fraud Nigel Farage has sensationally claimed that Reform UK was robbed of victory by foreign-born voters in last week's Manchester by-election.

Farage needs to fuck off with this.

The candidate that Reform stood had a long history of overtly racist views and comments, he’s a known misogynist and overall has the charisma of a soiled pair of knickers.

They are doing nothing more than causing further division.

Fuck off, the lot of them.
