won't you celebrate with me Lucille Clifton, 1936 - 2010 won't you celebrate with me what i have shaped into a kind of life? i had no model. born in babylon both nonwhite and woman what did i see to be except myself? i made it up here on this bridge between starshine and clay, my one hand holding tight my other hand; come celebrate with me that everyday something has tried to kill me and has failed.
keep them failing β

if you have not already worn this in public while performatively reading Nietzsche...
who could have predicted that two emotionally-stunted rich boys with zero capacity for love and a world-destroying hunger for it would end up πππβπ‘πππ over who should be America's Favorite Son
he was absolutely a stain on the soundtrack, 100%
fuuuuck and I didn't even remember to include Mazzy Star. what an absolutely unhinged collection of songs that had nothing to do with Batman though π€
you mean the soundtrack that casually housed PJ Harvey, Massive Attack, The Flaming Lips, and NICK CAVE on one CD? The EPIC SOUNDTRACK that introduced a generation of pre-Limewire teenagers to Sunny Day Real Estate and The Offspring? THAT SOUNDTRACK?
in lieu of "that sounds difficult," the beleaguered will be accepting compliments about their great capacity for poetic despair
sometimes spite is enough β€οΈ
I had a friend in college who bullied me into giving her a black eye, but that was an action born of love and Hot Girl Logic and not whatever sadbro sulkmaxxing is going on here

We at United Videogame Workers-CWA condemn the studio closure of Cliffhanger Games by Electronic Arts. In an industry that generated over $450 billion and padded EA CEO Andrew Wilson's pockets to the tune of $25.6 million in total compensation in the year 2024, workers should not have to be subjected to this dehumanizing treatment. These hardworking families and industry veterans must now scramble to find new work during a time of increasing economic volatility, while the game that they worked hard on will never see the light of day. And for what purpose? For EA to be able to write off the cost of the studio and game production as a "business loss" on their taxes and make their stock prices go up. Making this disastrous decision following EA's previously announced RTO policies and commitment to DEI is an insult to injury to those already trying to stay afloat in the industry, particularly to the disabled, those with families, and Black and brown game workers. We as workers and the players who stand with us in solidarity deserve better and demand better.
YES exactly this!!! π

photo of a big and tall saguaro cactus. it is not moving, it has been standing still for like a hundred years. it is also not speaking. it is a cactus.
now this is the kinda shit im talkin about. saguaro cactus. hell yeah. these bad boys can sequester the carbon equivalent of 40 gallons of gas, not releasing carbon back into the atmosphere during decomposition but interacting with the soil to create the mineral calcium carbonate(just a fuckin rock)
also, y'know, nightly bed check for spiders, sleeping in a fetal position to protect my vital organs, making sure the stuffed animals could "breathe" so they wouldn't rise up and murder me... the usual
cannot explain how many years of my childhood were devoted to sleeping as far away from mirrors as possible

I got on a conference call first thing this morning with my boss and he asked me what my shirt said, so I had to explain that it was a cute dog sailor with the text TOTAL INFORMATION COLLAPSE & THE END OF ALL CONSENSUS REALITY, THE DAMAGE CANNOT BE UNDONE
Friction is also feedback. Itβs how we learn to distinguish between right/wrong and good/bad in the first place. Removing friction removes an important mechanism for learning and refining.
we are all just living in cowboyβs world
mmmmm not sure I love the "survivor of horrors" vibe we got going on here
