Good photos do not require expensive gear, or there would be no good historic photos, or good mobile photography today.

Those cams are pretty meh compared to today's gear.

Expensive gear may allow to create photos that are impossible without it. That alone doesn't make them good photos.

BTW: These are redshanks.

Godwits not only have a longer beak, but it's very slightly bend upward and usually is not that pointed. Also if you crank up exposure and shadows you clearly see the typical redshank feathering.
