the weird thing about this platner guy is i have yet to see a normal regular person supporting him? it's a handful of addled-brain political nutters and..? the entire thing feels astroturfed
First they came for the trans people, and I said nothing because I wasnβt trans. Then they were like actually Iβm pretty sure you are trans and I said no Iβm not and they went okay well show us your penis then and I said what no get out of my face and they said that oneβs a girl get her

*KALSHI SUED OVER IRAN LEADER PREDICTION MARKET CARVEOUT: BLAW
One good thing here? Librarians who read trade reviewsβand trade reviews that do their jobβwill be helped significantly here.
Kirkus pointed out the issue and noted the confusion over audience.
The system works, but it's a lot of extra work in this case: www.kirkusreviews.com/book-reviews...
I think the biggest damage to the art community was the obsolescence of gallery sites (y!, deviantart, etc) and the rise of scroll-by social media, like twitter and even tumblr. Art is not ''content'', you shouldnt need to post art every day (or every month!) to be relevant. This mindset sucks.
it's been a very long week but i refuse to wallow. i have officially answered all my emails and dms. i have also made plans for next week and next weekend. please clap.
sigh
Capitol Hunters confirms Platner lied about why he could not get back into the Marines in 2009. It was because of his Nazi/antisemitic tattoo. He blamed Marine policy barring sleeve tattoos, but Marine policy grandfathered sleeve tattoos. It barred symbols of hate, which is what the Totenkopf is.
it's going to be funny if this is what sinks Gavin with the op-ed class
The Mystery Gang because I needed to redraw all of them
I thought BIPOC meant bisexual person of color
I feel bad for Melissa, too. Her YA books are already unfairly targeted hard. This will make it worse.
So on Ingram, it says the target age is 17 and up.
There's no excuse here. This could have easily been done as a Romance pick.
Iβll leave for later why reporters didnβt fact-check - thereβs an ugly story there too. But the urgent issue is, Platner would be crushed in the general. It's best to lance the boil now. Hereβs the document, sourced and Wikipedia-ready. You should read it. The NRSC sure will. 11/
Just imagine what Collins can do with this. Of course DoD would FedEx her Platnerβs service record the moment she asked. Imagine the ads she can make, mocking his little-boy lies and excuses. NRSC staffers have been following this account, like sharks. 10/
But the tattoos alone are enough. Like Elon Musk, Platner lies when cornered; he canβt admit fault or take responsibility. He gave his staff a script about his Nazi symbol to recite: βHe did not know the meaning at the time and covered it once he learned..β Thatβs a lie. 9/
Thereβs a lot more, or course; Platnerβs stories are full of lies and gaps. We donβt know who got him to run - the names are all secret. We donβt know what he did in 2017, a black hole after he dropped out of college, before he signed with Constellis. A family friend said βHe was in rough shapeβ 8/
By the way, as a bookseller, we get that shit too. Hate having to deal with angry parents irate at accidentally buying a book their kid isn't ready for at MOST good faith.
This might be Good Morning America's fault. Goddammit. Why? Why not market it as New Adult?! Just aim it for the college girlies!
The game opens with the Ditto you play as waking up. So it seems like to them, it feels like a nap?
That's... What? It.
But we shelve it as adult romance in our store.
Platnerβs former campaign team know somethingβs wrong - they all quit. They know he would lose in the general election. Janet Mills needs to make him lose in the primary instead. And she can, just by demanding his records. He wonβt show them - he canβt. Confront him with that. 7/
Why didnβt you know this? Platner lies in reportersβ faces but no one fact-checks him. When his Nazi tattoo was first reported, he ran to Tommy Vietorβs podcast for damage control. He told his false leaving-the-Marines story; Vietor laughed with him. No hard questions for your buddies. 6/
Of course Platner knew what his Nazi symbol was. It changed his life. His tattoos were reviewed when he asked to return active duty; a trained officer looked for violations. The sleeve tattoos were OK. The Totenkopf was not. Platner chose to keep it. Somewhere in DoD, itβs all written down. 5/
Platnerβs excuse is a new tattoo policy; he calls it βstupidβ. But the Marines arenβt stupid and they needed men. They βgrandfathered inβ all currently-serving Marines, exempting them from the rules, for all but one class of tattoos: those that were "racist ...or extremist group.. related". 4/
This thread is not about whether Platner is a Nazi. Itβs about how he lies like a toddler when heβs cornered. And thatβs enough. Heβs not electable, and Susan Collins knows it. You can too, if you can read this thread, or this 18-page document. 2/
The OP says this is not about him being a Nazi. But this guy cannot be anything but.
Once again, @karnythia.bsky.social was right.
