I'm not usually a fan of conversation starter cards, nor of marketing emails, but I have become a fan of boredwalk (www.boredwalk.com) because of both. Their monthly email is like a personal newsletter from a creator I get.

Nice! This one is my go-to day to day deck.

This just dropped, Marchebranche, the French game that Thomas Munier wrote and that I illustrated won « best indy game 2024 » of the French RPG awards. It is a nice surprise, thanks to Dystopia for the great work they did on the book (especially Laure who did the layout) It was good teamwork. :3

DHS is reportedly asking social media platforms for the names of people who criticize ICE.
So, for the record, I am against ICE and its activities and I have the constitutional right to say so.
Go Play NW is the best gaming convention in Seattle! You should definitely check it out!
Itβs a shame. The algorithm haunts us.
I'm sure you all already know about it, but I'd be remiss if I didn't call out this awesome project:

Yes, there are great articles there. Yes, I learn something useful on Substack every day. But the browsing experience is dying for me, and that's sad.
I've never thought of Substack as a social media platform. For me, it's a good way to have and control my own mailing list. But it has become a social media platform, and that's too bad.
Until one day it wasn't. The algorithm was no longer designed for me to curate my own feed, it was designed to feed me a steady stream of what Twitter wanted me to see. That's the day I stopped using it.
This used to happen with Twitter. Browsing my feed would get more and more uncomfortable. It started to feel wrong. I'd take a look and realize that 2-3 users were jamming my feed with stuff that wasn't useful to me. I'd block them and it would be fine.
I guess what I'm saying is that substack has changed from a browsing experience to a subtly curated experience--and one that I can't control very well.
It's like I'm browsing the bookstore, but someone keeps running ahead of me and inserting the same book into the shelf over and over.
It seems really subtle, but it's actually quite troubling. For example, the same Epstein article has been showing up for a week. It's not something I want or need to read, but it's there every day.
There's been a big shift in what I see when I go to substack these days. More and more I see the same articles appear in my feed. This signals a change from "here are articles that match your interests" to "here are articles our algorithm wants you to read."
Epson stopped making ink for this printer about a year ago, so I'm forced to rely on cheap knockoffs. Mostly they work, but the printer freaks out every 10 pages or so and stops printing just to give me the gears.
Printing postcards on my vintage photo printer.
- Out of black ink. Stops halfway through page.
- Ink replaced
- Prints 1.5 pages the out of blue ink.
- Everything's great!
- Confused! Restart! Restart!
- OK, printing...
- After a half page--sorry, out of yellow ink.
uhhhh
Let this serve as a reminder that a tyrant can never be appeased.
Also, I did the art!
