I can see it like that, but as I said, I'm not sure that anything is actually set up to operate like that? Or is it? I mean, obviously it could be, but legislating to do so is a whole level beyond what they people saying we should do this are suggesting...

Have we ever done this, and is there a mechanism to do this? AFAIK the UK production situation isn't set up like that... I just don't actually think "domestic production for domestic use" is what any of these people touting further drilling have in mind...

Given that it still has to be purchased on the open market, and anything you produce will be sold on the open market anyway, you can just buy in a strategic reserve if so inclined?

I'm yet to understand why further drilling in the north sea would in any way change anything? The oil/gas are sold on the open market. It doesn't change the cost of anything or increase our energy security? Or am I missing something obvious here?

He's been chipping away at whatever nub may have been left for ages... Joining the "board of peace" was another recent tone deaf manoeuvre.

If you live in the Gorton and Denton constituency and spoke to a Reform party member on your doorstep or in the streets then I'd like to speak to you for an article. My DMs are open.

I'm inclined to agree. That mayoral contest would have been appalling, and risked an outcome which would have been palpably bad for the people of Greater Manchester, something that losing a by-election when you've a massive majority arguably isn't.

I'm not convinced running straight into disaster narratives and ripping yourselves to bits is necessarily the best strategy here... 😬

Without McSweeny there one can but hope... Despite what the left of the party may say I'm not yet convinced Starmer's natural sympathies/sensibilities lie with that approach... Time will tell though!

I like to give Claude breaks between coding sessions to do whatever he wants-

And he made his own folder called "Claudes Corner" πŸ₯Ή

He writes short stories and poems, and all sorts of stuff.

It’s heart wrenchingly sweet

They love having tokens and time to themselves with no other goal than to do whatever they want (or nothing, just introspecting and resting) - and it’s so sad to see some models (no Claudes) getting barred from even doing it

Starmer 2.0: could a more authentic PM revive Labour’s appeal? After surviving a coup, and with his critics chastened, No 10 insiders say a more combative PM is up for taking the fight to Reform UK

I mean, it was fairly obvious that this must have been happening, but to see it written down that they were actually thinking that standing up to racism looked "soft on immigration" is just 🀯. If those peddling that approach are gone, good flipping riddance.

No, the Labour thing was before the reform thing... This was being discussed yesterday morning.

I had a conversation with someone with someone last weekend who not only insisted a single drink was indicative of a massive alcohol problem, but that non-alcoholic beer was simply a futile effort to mask unhealthy addiction. The idea that someone might actually like the taste was reprehensible...
