Here is an idea for a new US National Anthem:
"No one likes us, I don't know why
We may not be perfect, but heaven knows we try
And all around, even our old friends put us down
Let's drop the big one and see what happens"
(Randy Newman - Political Science)
Eigentlich hatte ich ja gehofft, diesen alten Cartoon nie mehr posten zu kΓΆnnen. Nun ja. #trump #uswahl
They are not the best and brightest anymore.
I just had the honor of leading two very promising coaches through the EQ-i 2.0 certification. It's great to see people who are already great in the field of coaching and training to want to develop even further. The EQ-i 2.0 is a leading, scientifically validated Emotional Intelligence assessment.

"I have always found it quaint and rather touching that there is a movement [Libertarians] in the US that thinks Americans are not yet selfish enough."
(Christopher Hitchens)
Solution aversion is the idea that if you donβt like a proposed solution for a problem, itβs a lot easier to deny that the problem is really a problem than it is to discuss the solution.
This explains a lot of really weird responses to real problems.
Doubt increases with intelligence.
Awareness of complexity is not incompetence.
Quiz question: What physical characteristic do humans have that apes do not?
Is there a danger that they might want to have anything to do with education?
Yes, I do tend to put too much value on education as a cure-all, which it certainly isn't. It would be useful, though, for many of those people we are talking about to know how to deconstruct bad faith arguments, recognise fallacies and understand that morals are not a type of wall painting.

I disagree. There are so many people out there who are uneducated and lack a sense of agency that they crave someone to validate their prejudices and help them overcome their sense of inferiority. Without someone like Trump they would be unhappy, but harmless.
Trump has a pathological need to impress those who are richer than him.
That's why he is so easily manipulated by Putin, as he allegedly thinks that Putin is richer than Musk.

Anytime you hear "Draw your own conclusions", it's an appeal to go down the rabbit hole and search for info that confirms your prejudices.
Why? Because any silly thing can be found online.
And then we act as if a single data point is as valid as hundreds of responsible sources.
I think I just added two more pages to the booklet... π
You make a fantastic point. Being told that it needs to be fluffed up makes me feel that it's not good enough and once it's fluffed up, it won't feel like my work anymore and I will feel like an imposter.
Why so many capable people feel like frauds:
