Sure would be nice if anyone in charge of this war had a clue about the history of US wars of intervention, the Middle East, asymmetrical warfare, etc.

"Forecasters had anticipated a gain of around 50,000 jobs. Instead, employers cut tens of thousands of jobs..." Really? Economists are that clueless? Anyone who works anywhere knows what's happening to jobs. Just listen to "the drum" at work...everyone knows jobs are being cut & no one hired
Why would someone who has consistently called for selling BLM land drop that agenda once he's in a position where he can actually make it happen? He won't! He will simply lie to critics when questioned & then do whatever it takes to fulfill his well-known agenda when he has the power. Trumpism 101.
I don't know why msm insists on reporting how a prospective Trump appointee, eg. Steve Pearce for BLM, answers questions from legislators, as if those statements mean something about what the individual will actually do on the job. We already know Trump & his entire circle say one thing & do another
In other words, Satanyahu played Trump like a violin. I hope pro-Israel jews realize that the current Israeli regime is stoking antisemitism around the world.
Clever idea: Adding super-sweet aspartame to sugar would make it like 100x sweeter by volume. But if you're in the habit of putting a teaspoon of sugar in your coffee, would you really think to use a fraction of a teaspoon of Sugar Delite...or just spoon away &get habituated to super-sweet coffee?
Tillis talks big bc he's retiring. Why tf did he vote yes to confirm Noem? Zero respect for him, tho I'm glad he's doing a little good now.
That has to be some local newspaper ad dept artist who was waiting for the chance to show off his Playboy-caliber chops
Analysts from the Penn Wharton Budget Model project direct military costs for Operation Epic Fury could reach $40 billion to $95 billion if it lasts 4–5 weeks. Add another $20B to that for military aid to Israel. But, yeah, US gov can't afford SNAP to feed poor folks.
Such a generalization about "(white) people" is ridiculous. I'll leave it at that.
Iraq fought an 8-year war with Iran & Trump thinks US can finish up in a few weeks. Good luck with that.
Since US strikes killed everyone identified as a possible successor to Ali Khamenei, that means the "plan" for Iran is chaos & no one knows wtf happens next. How reassuring!
Let's not forget: Trump & Netanyahu are both warmongers & corrupt criminals. Both control a bunch of nuclear weapons. Trump's past statements about nukes suggest he wouldn't object to their use in the Middle East. Many in Trump's base pray for the "Rapture" & destruction of Earth.
To this day, windows at night make me feel uneasy. A scene in SUSPIRIA also features eyes peering in from a dark window. It's fear based on possibility. There's a wall between you & the night outside, but windows put you on display to whatever is lurking out there in the dark, & provide easy entry
I shudder to think of how much worse it can get. I try to remain optimistic but keep getting slapped in the face by it all.
Lol, have we reached peak annoyance at everything about & spawned by the online world yet?
Satanyahu finally has a US president dumb enough to use his "Dept of War" to wreak havoc on behalf of Israel. Not that Israel hasn't been getting whatever it wants from USA forever, but this combination of pure evil + idiocy is something new.
Rabbit seems enchanted by the smell of cat's rear end...& I think Huck's a little embarrassed by the attention
Looks like some "subliminal seduction" going on in that filling
Good point!
Yeah, but on Bluesky, people call anything critical of any aspect of their worldview "reactionary shit" & throw the "bot" accusation around freely at contrary replies, even if they're thoughtful & non-hostile. Trying to engage in a civil debate on here can get pretty toxic.
They're all against regulation as long as the deregulated shit impacts only poor people.
The logical outcome of 20 yrs of the internet & (mostly) social media making everyone think he/she is an insightful critic & must *criticize* everything under the sun, because his/her opinion can get likes, get monetized & is so very important.
Never understood the rationale for locking dumpsters. If you're worried about divers making a mess, just put all the good stuff out so people can take it easily.
Questions: (1) What are its deficiencies? (maybe they're just more subtle than the obvious problems with regular search) & (2) What will Google inevitably do to enshitify it...& how much worse than regular search could it become?
Loathe to admit it, but Google search's AI mode has become my preferred way to use Google. Their regular search is horrible, top-loaded w garbage. In comparison, AI mode seems direct & efficient. Also provides info scraped from walled gardens like Facebook (I hate FB links in search results)
This deal would never fly if US had even minimal antitrust enforcement, no matter which party controlled the gov. Plenty of blame to go around for why monopolies have become the norm. Do you think the deal is a slam dunk? Seems like it could face regulatory scrutiny outside US.
I made a misleading statement above. If you buy an old TV-show dvd, it's formatted for 4x3, not "pillarboxed.". When you view it, your new TV will probably try to stretch it to 16x9. Then, set the TV's aspect ratio to 4x3 & you'll get the 4x3 dvd image, centered on a black screen.
Laughably bad. I'd be breaking up laughing at the bizarre CC subtitles when my deaf dad watched TV. I wonder why they're so bad.
