Luis Perales made his Nationals debut!
It's no surprise that Washington was interested in Perales from the Red Sox this winter. His fastball sat at 100 MPH with elite ride which pairs with a strong pair of cutters and sliders. There is some relief risk, but the stuff is nasty!
Dustin May is throwing his old curveball again!
The last time May regularly used his curveball was in his rookie season with the Dodgers in 2019. The reintroduction of this pitch seems like a no-brainer given his elite ability to spin the ball. Perhaps a resurgence in 2026?

Roki Sasaki struggled with command today as he failed to record an out in the 1st before returning the 2nd
His fastball sat at 98 MPH, but a common issue of finding the zone persisted. Without a pitch for him to consistently earn strikes, Sasaki's splitter loses its efficacy
Kyle Harrison debuted a new changeup in his Brewers debut, and it looks excellent!
With 20” of vertical separation from his fastball, this new changeup could be a game changer for Harrison against RHH.. He will be a name to throughout the Spring!

This short video helps explain it. It is basically a harder curveball with minimal horzintal movement and moderate drop. Kind of like a gyro slider with more drop

I heard that he was sitting 95-96 MPH in his pens and he was making a concious effort to take it easier today. He topped out at 97 MPH, which is encouraging
Jonah Tong keeps on adjusting his arsenal this Spring! After debuting a lacklustre cutter earlier, Tong is now showing off an adjusted one. This shape is more distinct and doesn't blend as much with his fastball. He's also testing out a "deathball" like curve and a sinker!
Shane McClanahan made his debut!
McClanahan has not pitched in MLB since 2023 due to elbow and triceps injuries, but he is back now! The Rays southpaw averaged 94 MPH on his fastball and showed off his trio of secondaries. Hopefully he can find that high 90s heat as he ramps up
Brody Hopkins (#68 Prospect) saw his command get out of hand today, but the stuff looked fantastic. He sat in the upper 90s on his fastball with incredible ride which he supplemented with some nasty breaking balls. He has one of the highest ceilings of any pitching prospect
