and maybe that's just how my brain filled in the gaps, or I could be remembering incorrectly. but like. I want a creature collecting game that's cute AND has a bit of edge to it. I want Scary. I want creatures that make you go "oh that's unnerving and I don't want to fuck with that but I Have To"

I think my problem with pokemon knockoff games is that they often tend to be just super cutesy (which is fine). but I always remember pokemon having like. cosmic stakes and a sense of dreadful things creeping in the background of the story.
