Depends on where you host dns but would recommend traffic shift based on health checks rather than rely on mutating dns “control plane” actions. Helps to reduce dns changes as a failure point.
May not be relevant depending on your rto/rpo, failover strategies and data sync between hosting providers.
So sorry you were caught in scope this time, it really sucks.
