For anyone else who wants to follow along it's in Settings > Keyboard > Text Replacement.
Then type out the long message you want to be inserted, and the shorter text you want to trigger the replacement.
brb, adding an iOS keyboard shortcut that expands "ftcs" to "Reporting you to the FTC for text spam, which carries a $500 fine per incident."

I stopped posting much ~8yrs ago. The US had just elected a nationalist/populist/fascist, my house had just been robbed (rzen.net/stolen-lego/), and the global outlook was depressing. It didn't seem right to share my trite, happy things.
