It really is, very disappointing. IMO any device that is hard wired onto your network should be accessible from that environment. Not to mention the security impacts of having an IOT device that's hard wired and doesn't support VLAN's.
It's also annoying that if their cloud services go down, you can't manage the device that's one your own network.
So, some sort of external API that you can interact with on your own network would be awesome. However we've been asking for it for ages.
