He's running. Former VA-5 Rep. Tom Perriello launched his bid to reclaim his 2009-2011 House seat at a supporter-packed event in Charlottesville on Wednesday, Dec. 10.
A very crowded room.
Packed house for @tomperriello.bsky.social campaign kickoff.
this is a federal election, individual contributions are capped at $3500
Iβm running for Congress in Virginiaβs 5th District because families and workers deserve a fair shot. Costs keep rising while salaries arenβt - and MAGA Republicans are cutting food & health care to fund corporate tax breaks instead of defending Virginiaβs families.

BREAKING: Former Rep. Tom Perriello (D-VA05) Announces Candidacy for 5th Congressional District, Declaring βThis Is an All-Hands-on-Deck Momentβ (The district is currently MISrepresented by MAGA fanatic and 1/6/21 insurrectionist John McGuire) bluevirginia.us/2025/12/brea...
AIPAC is not a corporate PAC.
Spanberger doesnβt accept corporate PAC money, a fact conveniently ignored in these contrast pieces

Great interview with @cleanvirginia.org Exec Dir @brennangilmore.bsky.social, who does an excellent job explaining βregulatory captureβ, where a monopoly utility uses donations to buy the politicians and laws it needs to expand its profits and limit its regulations. From @brandonjarvis.bsky.social
Quote from Brennan Gilmore- ED of Clean Virginia noting itβs the first ti Virginia voters have a clean slate of candidates refusing to utility money.
Huge shout out this morning to @brennangilmore.bsky.social & @cleanvirginia.org ! 8 years ago, it seemed impossible to put forth candidates in VA who could remain principled & competitive w/o accepting money from corporate utilities (who then would exert power over laws, decision making, etc).
Tom Perriello with a I voted sticker encouraging folks to vote for Jay Jones for AG!
Havenβt gotten Tom on here yet, but hereβs another nudge for Jay Jones for AG!!!! Be sure you vote today!!
I've known Jay Jones for years, and his character and experience will make him an excellent Attorney General for Virginia. I hope you'll join me in supporting him today.
While Jay Jones has pledged independence from corporate polluters, Shannon Taylor has taken $650,000 from Dominion Energy. Virginia leaders say itβs an ethical red flag. richmond.com/news/state-r...
π¨NEW: A coalition of Virginia lawmakers is calling on Shannon Taylor to explain why she accepted $650,000 from Dominion Energy while running for Attorney General β the largest utility donation in a competitive race in U.S. history.
The conflict of interest is undeniable.
Proud to join public servants across Virginia in urging Shannon Taylor to take this pledge before next weekβs election.
Attorney General is the Peopleβs Lawyer and a major consumer protector. This should be an easy ethics call.
If elected AG, Shannon Taylor should recuse herself from cases involving Dominion and regulated utilities β given the $650K+ theyβve already given her.
Virginians need to know their Attorney General works for the public, not a private company.
Looks like Dominion Energy has decided to go βall inβ for Shannon Taylor in the Virginia AG race
Jay Jones has an advantage in Hampton Roads which should give him a good base of votes
Taylor needs the money to go on air in the expensive DC media market to have a chance
I always need to remind myself whenever I pay my dominion bill that the money is not only going to fossil fuel projects but massive election contributions and lobbying expenses that I do not support.
Dominion just dumped $375k into AG candidate Shannon Taylorβs campaign while trying to raise electric bills over $21/month.
We just launched a new TV ad to hold her accountable.
Watch it now: youtu.be/C6EoqWb-DGI?...
Because the Attorney General should protect Virginians, not corporate polluters.
One has to wonder why dominion is so eager to keep Jay out of office?
What makes me the most annoyed about this is that Taylor doesnβt seem to think thereβs anything to the AGβs job except criminal prosecution, so why does Dominion money matter?
The OAG is a largely civil position and the only defense most citizens have against abusive industry.
Well this is damn near one of the most batshit things Iβve ever read amandaguinzburg.substack.com/p/diabolus-e...
