As Bike Cars Overflow, Caltrain Bans Large Bikes and Panniers - Streetsblog San Francisco
New rules heavily restrict the types of bikes Caltrain users can bring on board. Years ago advocates warned Caltrain that they weren't allotting enough bike space on the new trains
This need to be called out at perpetuating sexist policies that privilege bikers without child carrying, errand running responsibilities. Caltrain would never consider banning kids from trains, why is it ok to make it impossible for parents who travel bike to use the system?

The Seattle Social Housing Public Development Authority was established three years ago. In that time, it has created zero homes. It has created no development pipeline. It has, however, spent and obligated millions of dollars to hire and fire a CEO who never lived in Washington state, pay questionable consultants and embark on a hiring spree.
braindead argument. The social housing developer JUST got approval to receive its very first tranche of tax dollars LAST MONTH! The Seattle Times has no shame and will publish false information as long as it's under the banner of "opinion."

The numbers are staggering:
Rent is now unaffordable for a record *half* of U.S. renters.
Some 30 million jobs pay less than $15 an hour. The average wage needed to afford a one-bedroom apartment has climbed to $28.17 β nearly four times the federal minimum wage, which hasn't gone up in 16 years.

Distressingly, it appears Parks returned around $120,000 of State TIB funding that they didn't spend on safety improvements. We all know how hard it is to get infrastructure funding. So now when there's not the funding we need for speed bumps, sidewalk repairs, or other needed changes.

The rich always threatened to leave if you tax them. They never do. #taxtherich
TikTok video by Ron Davis
The billionaires are bluffing. Tax increases in MA, CA, NJ, and Seattle were all met with βthe rich and the jobs will leaveβ and yet they all grew substantially anyway.
Donβt buy the BS. Pass the millionaire tax, with no cuts for mega corporations or giant estates.

Federal corporate and individual tax rates in the 1970s were considerably higher than today. The aggregate state + federal tax rate being proposed by the Washington Millionaire income tax is lower than when Microsoft and Apple were founded.

What a farce. The PDC found that Markham McIntyre violated the law when he used Seattle resources to campaign for Bruce Harrell. But the penalty is just a friendly reminder to not do that.
The message PDC is sends is itβs low risk to use social pressure on govt coworkers to support a campaign
