Get BARTmogged, gasmaxxers!!
where I’m posting from
An urban street in Vancouver photographed from the sidewalk on an overcast winter day. The grass and bushes are covered with a small amount of snow.
Thrilled to have been granted merely two days out of this season with the lightest possible snow
man I’d do anything to be able to go see the NS Savannah in person
recently got reminded that Detroit: Become Human exists and I don’t think that game got ridiculed half as much as it deserved. Like we’re still not bullying David Cage enough
sometimes a graph speaks for itself
ooooh temu figured out it's now shorthand for "cheap off-brand garbage" and is not happy about it
Star Trek Deep Space Nine scene. A PADD is shown up close held by a pair of hands. (Kind of looks like an old palm pilot and if you're not old this will mean nothing to you) The beautiful LCARS user interface is displaying the text, "GO AWAY."
Ikarus 692 Airport Bus -- basically a bus with a front end that elevates to become an enclosed staircase to the plane
Ikarus 695, i think
unsure what the model number is, but the entire front of the bus opens up and a staircase extends out of it.
just learned about these (prototype?) airport buses from the 80s, i believe all from the Serbian (then Yugoslavian) company Ikarus
Real patriots ride the train.
UTDC-built LRV 832 laying over at Almaden on the Almaden Shuttle service
the early 90s LRT optimism vibes in this photo are incredible
Bus bulbs (the last picture) also make the bus much faster as it doesn’t have to merge back into traffic after pulling over to the curb
Huge thanks to @lucymaloney.bsky.social and @seanorr.bsky.social who brought a motion to fund Car Free Day and prevent its cancellation! And kudos to all of council for passing this unanimously. We will see you there!

Star Trek The Next Generation scene. Riker and Geordi, in uniforms red and gold, meet at a Enterprise corridor intersection. Riker is *very* tall. You don't always see it, but here facing and compared to Geordi, sheesh he's a tall drink of water. Anyways, his hair's a bit messy. Closed caption reads, "I'm having trouble waking up."
PANEL 1: A FRIEND showing MATTIE a big canvas. FRIEND: Hey check out this art i bought. I think it's incredible. MATTIE: Uhh. What is it? PANEL 2: reverse shot, you can see it's just an enormous black dot on a canvas. FRIEND: It's the aggregate of all human creative output, in the totality of recorded history, averaged out and then printed on this canvas! PANEL 3: Shot from panel 1. MATTIE just kind of stares at the friend. FRIEND: I can see you think I'm stupid. Would an IDIOT spend 14 billion dollars on it? Hmm? FRIEND: Would an IDIOT have been MOVED TO TEARS by this? PANEL 4: Same shot, two people walk by, looking amazed. P1: Wow, the computers are getting so good! P2: We'll be replaced any day now!

Conservative economic policy in the 1980s meant that Britain’s oil windfall was spent on enriching one sector of society and thereby deepening division and inequality, so that by the time the money ran out there was nothing to show for it, least of all a functional rail system. Contrast Norway.

Star Trek Voyager scene. Seven of Nine (tertiary adjunct of unimatrix 01) is pictured. She has a dolphin shaped metal robotic implant around her left eye because she is a borgs. Closed caption reads, "Fun will now commence."
It's the weekend, baby
BURRADOO, 139km from Central, is a quiet station that feels rural but actually has plenty of houses around it. It has two basic platforms and a pedestrian level crossing, but there's no access from the west side.
The northbound platform has one of Canberra's iconic bus shelters. I think it's lost!
A 1980s era British Rail poster depicting a shiny new electric train speeding past a derelict looking petrol station. The caption reads “How to keep going during the next crisis.”

A late afternoon telephoto shot looking away from the sun along a pair of parallel railway tracks towards a railway station in a provincial city. A 7 car DEB set in candy livery is travelling away from us on the left hand track. It is approaching a two-arm bracket semaphore signal on which the left hand arm is displaying proceed and the right hand arm is at stop.
Today's historic pic: The Sydney-bound Canberra Monaro Express, run by a 7 car DEB set with HPF959 at rear, nears Queanbeyan, NSW, November 1985. The train is arriving from Canberra and is approaching the bracket home signal projecting the junction of the Canberra and Cooma lines
Putting busways on existing streets are among most cost effective projects. 20% speed improvement = 20% ops savings or 20% frequency improvement at no ops cost. They're like printing cash
