We wrapped up the main sessions of #CIGF2025 with a Town Hall, giving participants the chance to ask questions and discuss key topics like data sovereignty, digital safety, multistakeholderism, AI and more. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this year’s CIGF!
“Our hope is that young participants start off as youth stakeholders then move to other stakeholder groups. That’s how we sustain engagement over time and build the next gen of leaders for the WSIS+20 process and beyond,” says Dana Cramer, Founder, President & CEO, Young Digital Leaders of Canada.
“The diversity of voices risks sidelining the technical community or injecting geopolitical influence into technical decisions, highlighting the need to recognize it as a distinct stakeholder in internet governance,” says Becky McGilley, Senior Director for Government Engagement Operations, ICANN.

The last #CIGF2025 panel is live, looking ahead to the WSIS+20 review. Moderator Jenna Fung leads Charles Noir, Dana Cramer, Isra Rosas, Becky McGilley and Kelly Anderson in discussing lessons learned and the relevance of the multistakeholder model amid fragmented platforms and shifting geopolitics.

Our #CIGF2025 AI-focused panel is live now, examining how governments can harness AI’s transformative potential while balancing innovation with digital protections and public interest. The session is moderated by Victoria Kuketz and features insights from Mark Schaan, Ashley Casovan and Jaxson Khan.
Marie-Julie Desrochers keynote at CIGF
Marie-Julie Desrochers, Executive Director, Coalition for the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, opened the afternoon at #CIGF2025, building on the day’s dialogue on digital sovereignty. She highlighted how Canada can protect cultural diversity online and introduced the ART framework.
“Organizations are overwhelmed by multiple cyber reporting requirements. We need to streamline these processes while ensuring data is used responsibly and transparently,” says Jon Ferguson, Vice-president, Cyber & DNS, @cira.ca, in our #cybersecurity in Canada panel.

Our second #CIGF2025 panel, moderated by Brent Arnold (@cyberlawyeryyz.bsky.social), featured Jon Ferguson, André Arbour, and Kate Robertson (@kate-ro.bsky.social) and covered all things #cybersecurity in Canada, including spyware, new laws and how collaboration across sectors can help build trust.
