Ed Miliband vows to 'fight' to keep energy bills down The Energy Secretary warned energy companies the situation in the Middle East was not an excuse to 'rip people off', and that the regulator which can issue fines had his 'full support'

Exc: Spoke to Ed Miliband about keeping energy bills down, fines for petrol companies, and the "reckless" Tory stance of backing action in Iran

£14m Labour UK Government funding for four Scottish universities for nuclear research.

But, because of the SNP, when they’re done their talent and knowledge won’t be kept in Scotland to build new nuclear and protect Scotland’s energy security.

Our right wing press want us to go to war with America

Just like Farage and Badenoch did. But they would have led us up the hill only to be marched back down again

The same press who vilified Blair in the 2000s

They are not fit to be journalists

Ethics adviser rejects Tory call for inquiry into PM over Mandelson appointment Sir Laurie Magnus said the relevant process appeared to have been followed when Lord Mandelson was made ambassador.

Poor right-wing charlatans. They're showered in so much donor money they can't see truth. It is left to us to be our own proper journalists.

Yes no sympathy here. If you move abroad it is part of your planning and due diligence. At least it ought to be. You ask yourself "what are my responsibilities - immigration, tax etc" if I have to return?". It suggests some people wanted to make a quick buck and didn't think it through.

Shame.

If any one thinks that the Tories or Reform would be better at running the economy, all you have to do is look at the American economy.

Where the heck do you hear this stuff? Okay the pledges i understand but you have to deal with the world as it is, not as you wish it to be. Those were for the world 6 years ago. We've had a pandemic. We've had Truss.

As for the other stuff, it's just laughable frankly.

Completely flummoxed by a lot of @greenparty.org.uk members' aggression and intolerance of differing views, I decided to take a look at their Core Values webpage.

Not a single mention of tolerance, decency, or mutual respect.

I am not saying Labour members are perfect but it explains a lot.

Medicare for All - "That's socialism!"

Social Security - "That's socialism!"

Debt free education - "That's socialism!"

Universal childcare - "That's socialism!"

$1 billion per day on a war in the Middle East that no one wants, while millions of people at home struggle.

"That's just how it is."

Oh don't you worry, I could write a thesis. Problem is, so many people are used to debating in 300 characters these days.....(cough)

I repeat I am happy to engage in informed debate with you. But I will not tolerate intolerance, swearing, disrespectful comments, personal attacks, or any other kind of verbal abuse. I'll just block you. Simples.

These traits in some people are not an inevitable part of online debate.

The biggest scandal is petrol retailers bulk buy fuel, months before they sell it. So Reeves and Miliband are right to ask them a question or two about this latest episode of excessive profiteering.

Once again it is the 99% that pay the price for the 1%'s actions

Glad the Petrol Retailers Association is talking to the government after all.

Wouldn't have been a good look for an association of capitalists to refuse to talk to a democratically elected government to ensure people's hard earned and often short lived cash isn't exploited to line the 1%'s pockets

The only way to protect ourselves from oil and gas price spikes is to get off the rollercoaster of fossil fuel markets and onto clean homegrown power.

That’s the mission of this Labour Government.

My point is you can't say things without backing it up. Nor can you say things without understanding nuance. As I say, write to your MP or stand for office. But yelling doesn't achieve anything.

What surprise. A capitalist association thinking they can call the shots for the sake of profit. Their retail staff ARE MPs' constituents. Reeves can't be blamed for people waking up in the morning and decide they're going to verbally/physically attack retail staff

Everyone just needs to calm down

New £150m funding package to protect jobs at Grangemouth The UK government and owners Ineos say the funding will support 500 jobs at the site's ethylene plant.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... this below is a Labour decision. The Belgium decision was a Tory one. Let's agree the Tories were a disaster for Scotland as they were for all parts of the UK. No one wants to see job losses. Socialism for the rich, capitalism for the rest of us.

Hahaha, oh man..."the Scottish Executive Committee manages policy towards Scotland". And again, see the article above showing the actions taken by the UK government, when the SNP could have acted unilaterally.

That's the problem with the Greens - can't see serious debate through their forced rage.

1 day ago 0 0 2 0

Scottish Labour and Sarwar (not Sanwar...) are different entities to UK Labour. Scottish Labour were not and are not in office - the SNP are. The SNP cannot pick and choose when to act unilaterally. SNP collects income tax from Scots. It is up to them to spend it wisely, including on protecting jobs

Because the significant majority understand that progress is made through pragmatism over anger or rage on the one, and on the other, the significant majority of people aren't racist.

Is the current system acceptable? No. But it takes hard-work, diplomacy, and pragmatism to change it.

Eventually the Green Party will have to account for each and every single one of their policy positions. It's a nice feeling to win a by-election. But a by-election is not a General Election.

And like it or not, General Elections are by-and-large still won in the centre ground. Why?
