NEW: A pipe collapse in January led to 240+ million gallons of sewage spilling into the Potomac River.

This morning, the city said E. coli levels in the water have been low enough that residents and pets no longer need to stay away.

Congress didn’t actually repeal D.C. tax bill, says attorney general A legal opinion has pushed D.C. into an unprecedented standoff with lawmakers on Capitol Hill.

The D.C. Council passed a bill decoupling the city’s tax code from certain provisions of the federal tax code—and thus parts of the president’s signature tax cuts.

Republicans in Congress say they repealed it. @dcattorneygeneral.bsky.social says they did not.
