From the post: βformat-change from print library copies to digital library copies was transformative under fair use factor oneβ & therefore constituted fair use. It also ruled that using those digitized copies to train an AI model was a transformative use, again qualifying as fair use under US law.

DONT TREAD ON LIBRARIES in the style of the Gadsen flag, with a yellow background and a "snake" made from books.
ππ Itβs National Library Week. Could this be the last one?
As a librarian, Iβm putting my energy into the #SaveIMLS movement. I shared my story & sent letters to my reps in Congress using the IMLS MATTERS site at imls-matters.github.io/imlsmatters/

IMLS Matters
Responses to this form will be published at https://imls-matters.github.io/imlsmatters/
Like many others I am dismayed by the effort to end IMLS. I know IMLS matters to so many people. I put together the following site to collect and share stories of how "IMLS matters" to people. Please consider submitting a story.

It's quite clear that when forces come for the Archive/Wayback, they'll be swift and not met with much resistance at the federal level.
Don't tell my bosses I'll continue working for free until it's all worked out.

I've received IMLS grants. Had to put a sustainability plan together for every one of them. Never thought those plans would outlast IMLS.

Librarian here. Libraries, especially research libraries, buy books on the second hand market every day for the scenario you highlighted. I used to work at a large academic library and we actively bought used books for titles that were out of print so that our collection would be comprehensive.
