FYI: The gsub() removes a trailing newline if present, so you don't end up with an empty array element at the end, which is often the case if your editor places a newline at EOF.

Start by asking yourself: what will it cost me to not do this thing?
If the cost exceeds your comfort threshold, stop and capture it right away.
If not, then don't worry about it, and when you have that feeling ignore it because you already decided you didn't need to do it anyway.
