it's like the way we spread things based on a screenshot devoid of context and the people who were, like, there at the time know the context but can't explain/get ignored/shouted down because people like to stick to their memes/assumptions
so at this point, it's kind of safe to say that the whole "language changes, deal with it!" is just a self-defence mechanism for humans because they like to just assume what words mean based on context (oh hey like the cueing method of reading) and don't like to be told they're wrong, right?
