You're not wrong. It sucks.

Thank you! It's been a bit of a time of it. Most people have been great though, and bar one, have all been kind. It's just that couple of people who make you doubt yourself because they assume you're a neurotic dickhead.

Y. She's on a swanky ward now in a side room with a view. She's much better now there's a plan.

But really the point of this isn't 'ooh look at me, I'm great' it's more for folks to trust their gut, cos you know your baseline or your person's baseline, the medical folks have likely never met the patient before. Better to push and be wrong than give in because you're intimidated.

Well. She had a CT, which was clear. But, she was being treated as if she'd had a stroke but they kept saying 'it's not a stroke'. Stroke specialist saw her and ordered an MRI to rule it out. I kept pushing and saying 'this is how she was when she last had a stroke'. Anyway, it's all on track now

Oh that bloody paramedic. AND THEN, AND THEN, yesterday I had a physio tell me her symptoms were probably due to an infection. And an acute medicine doc yesterday had also said 'probably not a stroke, you can go home tomorrow' fortunately, the stroke team had ordered the MRI and we're all sorted.

Thank you. And thank you for your kind words last week. It really helped.

She's in the swanky new hospital up the road from us now and it's great. She's getting dedicated care of OTs Physios, etc. She's got a nice side room and she's comfortable. She's scared because she's so fiercely independent. She will get herself home at all costs.

Thank you lovely one. I hope you are ok. XXX

I feel like I'm fishing for compliments but thank you. If you knew me irl, you'd know i struggle with being assertive. It's probably been very good for me and I will appreciate the character-building nature of it all when I've got over it a bit.

Ah, thank you, treasure. X

Oh yeah, sorry. She's alright. Thank you. She's a crabby old bat most of the time, but she still deserves proper care. She's scared but she's a stubborn git and as will all other times, she gets on with what the physios tell her to do and then she returns to her lair and gets on with things.

You are so kind. I feel bad people praising me for just doing the right thing but it was really hard and I do feel kind of good about it.
I hope youre doing ok, lovely bean. XXX

Thank you. I'm kinda proud of me too. It's one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. @nibus.bsky.social has been supporting from afar like a champ but I've done this all by myself and I hate being a grown-up.

Thank you so much. I'm knackered but feel much better now.

Yes, it is exhausting. I'm glad you managed to advocate for yourself effectively. It can be very intimidating.

CT, yes on day of admission, which was clear. MRI is the only definitive way to rule out though, AFAIK, which she finally had this morning, and confirmed what I'd told them when I pushed to get her readmitted to a new hospital after she'd been discharged in an absolute state from the first place.

Finally got definitive confirmation my mum had a stroke. 1.5 weeks of pushing, and asserting myself, going right out of my comfort zone. This isn't a sympathy post this is a 'if you know summat's not right, push till you get answers' post. Docs are reet clever but they dont always know it all.

You bloody beat me to it! I knew you'd post it before I could!

I was regularly left out of clique. Over time I came to quite like being excluded and not being part of the crowd with all the meanies. You are rare and very special. Too interesting for a stoopid clique.

Less heroic but quicker. It was a swift end, they never saw it coming.

Y. Unfortunately, they live by the sea, so I am quite worried

I must point out I didn't add the labeller especially to find out how my relatives will meet their end. I added it ages ago for a loff, and I know how you're all going to cark it.

Comforting to know that the Manner of Death Predictor forsees S-i-L and B-i-L being taken off to a watery grave (together, I assume). B-i-L via means of a mythical sea creature of norse legend, quite fitting, really. S-i-L (I imagine) fighting said creature valiantly to the end to save her love.

Yeah. Wish I'd have twigged at the time. I was so sleep-deprived and stressed though.
