The killing of schoolchildren should shock our conscience and cause us to recoil in horror.

A nation whose leaders can so easily shrug off the death of children, no matter the cause, is in need of moral repair.

There must be accountability and lessons learned from this tragedy. And we must never forget that Iranian children, too, are children of God.

“This technology disrupts humanities-trained—largely Democratic—voters, and makes their economic power less. And increases the economic power of vocationally trained, working-class, often male, working-class voters,” Karp said in a CNBC interview

I Will Never Forgive Trae Young For Surpassing Kobe Bryant's Career High For Assists In A Game Eight Times | Defector Kobe Bryant was not just some normal NBA player. No indeed: He was the second-best shooting guard in the history of the Los Angeles Lakers franchise, and something like the 11th-best Laker overall, an...

if the amount that is spent on gambling was simply in a savings account or IRA would be so much better than gambling. it's not even close.

the super long shot parlays always get splashed over social media to make it seem possible

when this first launched in AZ I did the $1000 free bet for a few bets and hit two like $14k or so parlays and saved some but ended up giving too much back.

I have a much better control now and only do a small amount of betting.

but I agree it's ontologicallly evil

The chapter about the DK/FD reps whose job is to become texting buddies with "VIPs" (high-volume losing bettors) and take them out to games and stuff so that they keep betting and losing, all while carefully avoiding any discussions with the VIP about gambling addiction, made me want to [redacted]

Gotta love (sarcastic) the NY Times' assumption in that headline that only Iranians are likely to be infuriated by the US bombing of WORLD heritage cultural sites in Iran.
Maybe not in the technical sense of the term, but this is a crime against humanity.

2/ I asked Al, "Can you wear a crop top for Iftar?" As Rama Duwaji is doing:
Al Overview
It is generally advised not to wear a crop top for Iftar. Ramadan is a time for modesty and respect, requiring covered shoulders and knees. Crop tops, which expose the midriff, are considered too revealing for traditional, public, or family Iftar gatherings. Opt for modest, loose, or flowing, comfortable clothing. ®

3/ It is super rude by the way, in observant Muslim norms, for the hostess to reveal her midriff at an Iftar celebration in the presence of men who are not her husband and in the presence of Mahmoud Khalil's wife, who is veiled as is far more religiously customary.

They felt safe to protest when a democrat was in charge and then they got the shit beat out of them and then a republican got in charge and then tried to deport everyone in addition to beating the shit out of everyone.

They are college students, they are trying to graduate, not be beat up.

it's cool @editorialboard.bsky.social limits replies after posting this. yes people can't genuinely be concerned about seeing a genocide. just ignore how many kids were expelled, professors brutalized and the police called to raid encampments. it's always the least powerful people's fault

The sooner we can get over the inherent sexism of wondering who hurt these (usually white) women to make them like this & just admit they're the same strain of dumb evil asshole as their male counterparts, the sooner we can stop reading articles like this.

but like, it shouldn’t take a good person long to realize *why* some words and ideas have sharp edges, and who they cut when used

I try to put myself back in my early to mid 20s shoes when I was a more selfish person and surely didn't see the danger in some stupid stuff here or there -- but I still can't commiserate with these people, as even in my misguided youth I had a soul and knew right from wrong
