Good deal. I used to administer a FidoNET BBS that acted as a regional hub. I was a QuantumLink user on my old Commodore 64, too. None of that compares to the speed and ease of use of todayβs internet, but I have a certain nostalgia for those pre-internet days.
Did you participate in any FidoNET BBSes?
My senior year of high school was defined by _Dookie_. My favorite song was βAll By Myselfβ.

Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.
I feel that way 99% of the time, Kira. Youβre not alone.

Just saw @engageyall.bsky.social here in Pensacola, and Iβm so excited for whatβs to come! #VoteValimont
I don't work with code that often; I edit technical documents for an international audience. Seeing a mix of MM/DD/YYYY; DD/MM/YYYY; YYYY-MM-DD; Month D, YYYY; and D Month YYYY across our library drives me batty.
Unfortunately my team appears to have standardized on the wrong format: Month D, YYYY.
Oh, but I wish that everyone followed date and time formatting standards.
I get itβ¦ more than ninety-something percent are brides and grooms or mothers and fathersβ¦ still, though, thereβs room for progress here. Iβm glad that my church took the feedback well and said that theyβd make changes.

I can't comment on that, only on the gender expectations. And I should follow my comment by saying that the staff said that they're looking to redesign the forms soon and that they'll consider the inclusivity issue as they do.

My parish prides itself on being inclusive, but I had to give feedback this week about the paperwork for the rite of Holy Matrimony. Ours won't be the first same-sex marriage at our parish, but the paperwork still assumes a bride and a groom. β
Our choir director had us practice (1) deemphasizing the "but", (2) carefully articulating both the "t" of "but" and the "d" of "dust", and then (3) slightly accenting the "dust"... so as to not make it seem like we were singing about "butt dust". I think we got it.

For Lent Iβm giving up.
I'm not Catholic, but I observe Ash Wednesday and Lent...
Iβm excited about the noon service, actually. My new fiancΓ© is off of work that day (he usually works Wednesdays), so he can go to the service with me. Heβs never met any of the folks with whom I usually worship on Wednesdays.
I usually attend Eucharist at noon on Wednesdays at my church, so Iβll go to the noon Ash Wednesday service. Iβm singing in the choir, though, at the 6:00 Ash Wednesday service, too. Double ashes for me!
Thank you!
I hope everything went well for your friendβs baptism.
My fiancΓ© and I met with our rector this morning in the first of several meetings to plan our wedding at the church. This is one week after my fiancΓ© was baptized.
I feel so blessed to have found a church who accepts me as I am and that is wiling to celebrate my love for my fiancΓ©.

Sometimes the answer to the question "How should this sentence be punctuated?" is "It should be entirely rewritten."

Layperson here, but Iβm going to do daily morning prayer and attend a small group studying the seven deadly sins before Eucharist on Wednesdays.
