THREAD: OPEN BOOK CHOCOLATES AT BOOKCON!
As you may know, we're going to be vendors at BookCon, April 18 & 19 at the Javits Center in New York City!
We could use (& very much appreciate) your support/help spreading the word.
HELP GERI BRING LITERARY-INSPIRED CHOCOLATE BARS TO BOOKCON!
Ill do a complete review and write-up of this game after I finally get a stable group together. I haven't mentioned it nearly enough, but for now I'll just say @dorkland.itch.io has a solid pulp RPG that I'm anxious to out on the virtual table!
Thanks for the good words!
Happy birthday to Betty Boo. Here's a reminder of the time she rapped with Public Enemy in the McDonalds at Shepherd's Bush back in 1987 (look out for the unimpressed manager!)
Remember, there has LONG been a small, culty subpopulation in the crevices of broader fandom culture that professes some version of the belief that *characters in fiction literally live in astral realms*...
Is that a RQ3 box set on the table?
My Action-Heroes #RPG wouldn't exist without these comics. And those Carlton reprints I found in a drugstore as a kid.
I would love for DC to do a DC Finest of this, along with the early Charlton stories, like they did with Peacemaker.
I love this character and her world.
Painkiller Jane cool down. @jimmypalmiotti.bsky.social and Joe Quesdada inspired me so much with their EVENT line and Jane has always been one of my favorites
And everyone will have forgotten about it by then.
Isn't March 15th a Sunday? That seems like a weird day to make an announcement.
Definitely true.
I was doing some prep to run a game and I realized that I could have better organized the presentation of the game, and once I did that I realized that I probably show take another pass at it. It was the first thing I self-published, and I think that it really shows.
NEW “We’re celebrating a tradition that is at its core about resisting occupation and maintaining community in the face of horrors. You can’t keep politics out of Irish music. No one should try, for two reasons. First, it’s ahistorical. Second, Minnesotans are ready for a big anti-fascist party.”
That might mean revising the core rules so I have what I need to build the new material out of. If I put together a new "edition" of it, it will still be the same game about fighting fascism and punching Nazis, building a better world and getting to be heroes. We can still be the light in the world.
I have things that I want to do with AitU: a cyberpunk book, expansion of the setting in the core, and put out a new version of HeartQuest with the AitU rules. This new supplement was the start of all of that. Formalizing what I want to work the future out of.
But Adventures in the Unknown is my first baby, despite Action-Heroes being my first Me game, and with everything going into getting it ready, I feel like I've neglected AitU. I wrote a supplement for Action-Heroes, put together a fixed up PDF and even started work on an introductory version of it.
Honestly, I can't believe that it has almost been two years since I put AitU out on itchio in the first place. The last year has been absorbed by getting Action-Heroes out under my own shingle. I'm still working on getting the POD version finalized. So much work going on with that.
My Adventures in the Unknown #TTRPG is my first self-published #RPG. It is a great game, and I love it, but I really want to revise it. I've been working on some new character options to expand the game and part of me wants to put it all together in one game.
Ybor represent.
I also met Loyd Blankenship on a server that neither of us should have been able to access back then.
I was the only person who wasn't a computer science major who had access to the internet on our system at college. I was also the only English major who understood C programming so that I could use that internet access.
For some reason I thought he was still alive.
Tom Clancy is dead?
Bernard LaFayette, the advance man who did the risky groundwork for the voter registration campaign in Selma, Alabama, that culminated in the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, has died.
China loves this shit. They're moving up their timeliness for attacking Taiwan knowing we won't be able to defend them because of over extension. When this fucknut is done he will have destabilized the Americas and the Middle East and sunk the US dollar.
i know people on here don't rly care about culture coverage but sharing because I'm proud I did it: reviewed Mitski's new residency at NYC's The Shed @us.theguardian.com
seeing her perform for the ninth time in 9 years (!), I feel confident saying that Mitski is in her triumphant era.
Update: I’m at 59% 🥹🖤💕
