Yes, I have wired a few of these (mostly US/EU equipment rated for 240v but with the wrong plug-end)
β¦I am both over 35, and an engineer, but mostly I think it's because my dad was an electrician and auto-mechanic. Working on home electrical wiring was was considered an easy job! π

About: The Trans Rights Readathon is an annual call to action to readers and book lovers in support of Trans Day of Visibility (TDOV) on March 31st. How to participate: read and uplift books written by and/or featuring trans, nonbinary, 2Spirit, and gender-nonconforming authors and characters. Donate and fundraise for trans aid organizations in your community.
#TransRightsReadathon begins soon. It's a decentralized event, which means you don't have to sign up or do anything in particular, you just have to love trans people and trans books. Here's what I'm doing this year π§΅

The world we live in is a world where wars are not fought for any strategic power competition reasons at all, but one where they are fought specifically to generate imagery of suffering for sadistic perverts to get off to without any more thought put into why than that

ICE detains reporter Estefany RodrΓguez in Nashville - Nashville Banner
Reporter Estefany RodrΓguez, detained by ICE with no arrest warrant, may face deportation. Her attorneys seek immediate review of the legality of her case.
ICE has arrested and detained a Nashville journalist who reported stories critical of ICE. Sheβs married to a U.S. citizen and has been seeking asylum here after fleeing death threats in Colombia because of her journalism there.
Theyβve already sent her to Louisiana.

Then there's also how likely mass social collapse is seen?
The Motie museums (Mote in God's Eye) were designed not for casual use, but as repositories of vital information for rebuilding society after the next, inevitable, collapse.

...I think longer lived (life span >300 planet-year cycles?) museums would vary widely depending on the rate of technological and social change.
A slow-change people might not see the point in museums at all?
Faster changing might see them as a good way to get that junk out of the attic?

...these might be a an extended family level, or collected into regional libraries?
I think we may also need to calibrate short/long lived vs the natural environment cycles. A human lifespan could be 'short' on a planet with a 'year' spanning 200 earth-years?

Awesome question!
I think 'museum' for shorter lived peoples would focus more on the personal, like more detailed family histories to explain what might be owed, or debts, and 'how we got here'
Almanacs to help the next generation deal with multi-year/decadal problems would be vital...

Trying to write books for everyone seems to me a surefire way of writing bad books. Iβm not interested in writing books for twats. I write books for the cool and nice people whose company I know Iβd enjoy if I met them in real life. Iβm entirely comfortable with twats hating my books. Bring it on.

It wasn't "cancel culture" when women and people of color got used up, silenced, and dismissed before their careers even began. It only became "cancel culture" when powerful abusers started having established careers momentarily inconvenienced by revelations of what they'd done.
