There's more than meets the eye when it comes to logo design.
Take the logo for my business, Bandbox Design. At a glance it just looks like a clean, modern shape right?
Well, here's the thought process that went into the logo design:
- Combine B and D
- Include a box
- Make it BOLD
I worked with Bluap to refresh their logo and visual identity. The old design was an off-the-shelf option and now they wanted to reflect their professional yet personal service.
With keywords like Blue, Transformation and Trust, I designed a modern, trustworthy identity inspired by butterfly wings.
This is my spec visual identity for Moose, a conceptual financial brand.
Starting with sketches inspired by antlers, the ideas bloomed from there and I incorporated the antlers with the letter M to create the logomark.
"How was Adobe MAX London?"
Let's just say I have a reMarkable full of notes and a head full of inspiration. Then I'll let this video do the talking π
If Iβd known that a side effect of business networking would be talking about Red Dwarf Iβd have started a lot sooner
Iβm not usually one for these personality tests but @adobe.com has got me spot on with this result

Every Tuesday, I post something to show the magic that happens when events and graphic design combine.
What do you think of this bold, colourful identity? Is it ship-shape or a load of ship?
In honour of Severance letβs rename remote/office/hybrid workers:
Remote = Outie
Office = Innie
Hybrid = Reintegrated
Attendees when an event has poor wayfinding
You canβt hurry love. Or creativity.
Graphic designers are not pixel pushers. Weβre problem solvers.
I did this domain name switch today too and described it in exactly the same way, fancy
@buffer.com I just thought of the tagline Buffer the Scheduling Slayer and thought you might like to know that
Working with a graphic designer with plenty of event experience will help free up your organisational time and improve your eventβs visual impact.
Good signage isnβt just a nice-to-have, itβs a must-have for any successful event.
[8/8]
A graphic designer will consider things like legibility and placement with thoughtful use of colour, fonts and contrast.
And they will ensure visual consistency applies throughout, which is vital to create a clear, easily understandable event space.
[7/8]
Here are the three main categories that will form part of your eventβs visual landscape.
1. Directional Signage
2. Informational Signage
3. Promotional Signage
Up next, why a graphic designer should be the one to make these signs.
[6/8]
Poor signage reflects badly on the event and can make attendees feel undervalued.
Well-designed signage demonstrates attention to detail, professionalism and care for your audienceβs experience.
[5/8]
Whether itβs directional signs, stage backdrops, sponsor displays or a floor plan, well-designed signage can make the difference between a confusing event space and one thatβs crystal clear.
[4/8]
Wayfinding, primarily created through on-site signage, is an attendeeβs equivalent of a sat nav. It guides them smoothly through an event, ensuring they donβt get lost or frustrated.
[3/8]
When you need to drive somewhere, chances are youβll look up directions or fling a postcode into the sat nav.
You need something to guide you or you might get lost.
Visitors to your events are no different.
[2/8]
Iβve been thinking about how important well designed signage is for events.
