BREAKING:
βShock and aweβ at DNR: Wildlife division gone, managers sacked, and restructured department geared for natural resources exploitation and extraction
reported by @joanbaxter.bsky.social
They can say whatever they want about it, but doesn't mean it's not a little bit of this and a little bit of that
So many people didn't understand the ending lol
Wow spoiler alert: the biggest cause of bus delay in Halifax is car volumes
Having gone to junior high and high school in Fall River, it's car-brained too close to the sun, and too wealthy to consider bussing an option. There has been severe community backlash to density for 20+ years; they are protesting a nursing home for Christ sake
Quick reminder that the Mill Cove engagement session is this Wednesday, Feb. 11. Two drop-in times are available.
So if I'm reading this report right, 10 years after passing the BRT plan we are now starting a three year planning process so that by 2028 we may start to impliment parts of BRT plan first approved by council in 2016.
Andor is a political thriller that masquerades as a Star Wars show. It is prescient about the current day, because it is steeped in the historical relevance of yesterday. In a world where information can spread like wildfire; ideas are contagious and uncontrollable. The truth will come out.
I finally watched Andor S2 recently and I can't help but think about this quote from the show
"The Imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear. Remember that."
I enjoyed season 2 of Fallout, but it felt more like it was building towards season 3, didn't really wrap any threads up. Plus the constant cutting between storylines was frustrating
Iβm finding it painful to watch CBC platform mostly conservatives to gush praise at former Prime Minister Stephen Harper (theyβre releasing his archival collection) with almost zero commentary about the awful things he did while in power & around the world since. The selective amnesia is nauseating.

One time a buddy of mine spent like 4 hours straight in an outhouse while tripping, we kinda forgot about him in there tbh. He ended up alright in the end, said it was profound
Report card on @gandersocial.bsky.social
- feels just like Twitter, Bluesky, Threads, etc
- very limited features still, but the basics are good so far
- limited content, it's a closed beta but to be expected
- entirely Canadian, which is very refreshing
- quick fixes and responsive feedback
How will the changes impact the rules printed in the core rulebook and other supplements? Is it written as an alternative subsystem, or will it replace the vehicle combat rules in a future printing of the CRB?
It only makes sense to feed buses into the higher capacity transit. People don't mind transfers when they are reliable and comfortable. Wish Halifax could just figure that out and build commuter trains on the right of way that already exists
I'm glad that Halifax did, not surprised that NS hasn't yet
You can interact with Bluesky and follow people from here, directly in the Gander app; but nothing is propagated on this end. Hopefully those integrations can be worked out
Finally got my invite to @gandersocial.bsky.social and tried it out for the first time. Lots of work to be done still, but the foundation seems decent and it'll be exciting to see it grow
32.3 million boardings in 24/25 according to the Halifax Transit Performance Measure Report
#Halifax would rank on this list at #10 ahead of Boston with ~63
Ubisoft Halifax was probably the biggest studio in the province. Major loss indeed

We are the Nova Scotia Museum. What began as one museum of science and history in 1868 is today, a family of 28 sites & over one million artifacts & specimens, across Nova Scotia.
We have seven sites that are open year-round.
ICE shot and killed someone in south Minneapolis
The Empire podcast is excellent, there is some historical context of why Venezuela is important during the Suez canal series

This is a major loss for the game development industry in Nova Scotia and another hostile act against workers by large corporations
Ubisoft Halifax was probably the largest studio in the province, and now 71 people are out of work. Perhaps some smaller independent studios can emerge from this
Tim Houston is now running "illegal cannabis" awareness ads to follow up his embarrassing crackdown from a few weeks ago. Noticeably no mention of fentanyl, after the RCMP didn't back up his claim b/c there was no proof. Why are we spending our tax $ on this drivel?
The Trump administration is actively censoring what is shown by the media. It won't stop here; they will continue to sanitize their heinous crimes and cosplay as a competent government behind a facade of smug contempt for the public. They think they can get away with this.
The network is going to be beautiful when it's done. I wish it wasn't so difficult for that to happen. Imagine if in the middle of the city the road just stopped completely, or turned into an unmarked dirt road. Nothing should just stop and things should be as interconnected as possible
